Interior Lighting at Night

Interior Lighting at Night
I am waiting on my Silver Moon/Ebony AWD Tech to be delivered, but I am eager to see the gauges and interior lighting at night...from my RSX to TSX to TL , I have always liked the night lighting mode of my Acuras. I understand from elsewhere in the forum that the RDX night lighting doesn't match the picture on Acura.com:
http://www.acura.com/RDX/2013/Photos...package-gauges
Is this true? If so, what does it really look like?
How about the ambient blue lighting on the console and in the footwells? Are either present on the RDX? Those are details I couldn't make out during my mid-day test drive...and the dealer didn't seem to know.
Any details or pics would be appreciated! Looking forward to getting my RDX so I can contribute to the conversation! Thanks!"

ATL304....You are correct. The picture of the cluster is not representative of the reality. There is no bluish light to the gauge....the numbers are white on black. It is not super sexy but it looks very good nonetheless....almost has a depth perception to it. If you seen the TL, it is very similar to that except the needles are not red (look at a TL cluster (2012).
The ambient bluish led over the console is there HOWEVER, not on the footwells which was a bit disappointing as I liked that feature. Some of the new cars go way overboard with ambiant lighting (Ford Focus is a good example) but the subtle bluish ambient of the Acura in the footwell was always pleasant.
We look forward to having another RDX owner to join the clan and share the love, passion and assist other future RDX owners

ambiant lighting
it is present in the foot well in 2010 and up it's just VERY dim. check for it when its very dark. you can remove the lens cap (tinted dark) and drill a hole in it and it will show up better

The 2013 RDX does not have foot well ambient lighting, only the two small lights on the overhead console either side of the HomeLink buttons.

ambiant cabin lighting is standard it should be in you're 2013. like i said before the light covers are extremly DARK. i did'nt think mine had it you really have to look when it's dark no lights around.
it took all of 5 minutes to remove the light covers and drill a hole in them. it makes a huge difference.

Congratulations on your new ride. I also have SilverMoon, Ebony, AWD, Tech. Here is a link to some photos. I have never noticed the blue info panel except in this photo. The other blue tints are just photo artifacts.

2013 Acura RDX Rockville
The five-passenger interior features leather seats, blue low-level ambient lighting over the center stack and in the foot wells.

I have a 2010 rdx and did not notice the lighting in the foot wells. I read it had the lighting then read in the TL forums how some owners were drilling out the lens covers because they were to dark. so I started to look under the dash and found the lens covers. they were simple to get at so I removed both and drilled them out it took less than 10 minutes. I will try to take some photos this week.

hmmmmm i will have to look, i never noticed anything during the 5 months of ownership. Might be a typo, I never noticed we could lock the center console either

Thought you guys might enjoy this
I bought some things from Bernardi Acura and my package got delivered at work while I was on vacation last week. Got my package today when I went back to work and one of the things I bought were two floor light harnesses from a 2008 TL and I installed it today on the passenger side. I was only shipped one and was short the other one. I guess Bernardi forgot to put the second one in the box so I cant do the driver side yet.
Thought I would take a pic for you guys since I will be trading in my camera within the next week
Enjoy!

Not too difficult.
- Took out floor mats and removed the side carpet panel from the center console, its only attached by clips
- There is a panel cover under the glove box in the footwell area, just removed that. Also held in by clips. Drilled a small hole using a unibit so that the LED would clip into it. A little drilling each time to make sure I didnt make the hole too big so the LED would not be able to clip in. The other end of the harness has a 2 pin connector, just cut it off at the base so you have 2 wires
- Took out the glove box so that I could tap into the wiring from the light thats inside the glove box. Removed side cover on dash in door jam area, opened glove box and removed the silver trim piece along the top which is held in by clips to reveal 3 phillips head screws. Took the screws out and closed the glove box. Removed two phillips 8mm head screws on bottom of glove box. Glove box pops out, which is held in by clips.
- The rest is just wire tapping and reassembly

I tried to go for the LED thats under the radio above the center pocket since that panel pops out easier than the glove box, but that LED does not receive 12 volts. Luckily I seen the light inside the glove box because I would have scratched this task off my list.
When I do the driver side I will most likely just tap into the new wiring that I ran for the passenger LED. Since there is not panel cover under the dash of the driver side I will probably just mount the LED using a couple zip ties or something.
Still waiting to hear from Bernardi about my other missing harness
I also want to put quick connect wire terminals on the wiring of the passenger side so its easier to remove the footwell panel. My main goal was just getting it all hooked up and making sure it works

I don't get this. There is supposed to be ambient lighting in the footwell area. But you can't see it unless you look real hard under the brake pedal region in absolute pitch darkness. Am I missing something here. Ambient lighting is supposed to be visible in regular night conditions and that too without any struggle to see. If you can't see it casually at night, it's not effectively there. Should not have to go looking for it. I haven't even noticed it so far. It's a pathetic effort by Acura.

I found a blue LED light in the center console close to the bottom part. It provides minuscule amount of light to the center area / cubbyhole (not the footwells).
