Interior Color
I'd love to hear from all the RDX owners on this site. What is everyone's opinion on the parchment leather vs black leather? Pros and cons of both, upkeep, look, everything.
Well, like paint color this is a personal preference. Black paint is harder to keep clean-looking than light paint, and the opposite is true for leather seats.
My wife wanted parchment seats, but I pointed out that they will get dirty or stained more easily. She pointed out that black seats might be hotter (we live in Florida). So we sat in two different RDXes that had been sitting in the sun, one with black seats and one with light seats, and we couldn't feel a difference.
We preferred the look of black seats with our Silver Moon (light gray) paint color, and I preferred the all-black dash rather than two-toned, though my wife didn't care either way.
Also, there was only one Silver Moon base model at the dealership and it had black seats. And we didn't want to wait because the RDX was love at first sight. Hence, black seats were an easy decision for us!

I have Forged Silver with black interior. I live in SF bay area so its not very hot outside. Even in summer days the seats dont feel too uncomfortable. Once the AC is on, it takes a few minutes to cool everything down.
I have 2 small kids and upkeep was a major concern for us, so we went with black. Also, it creates a very uniform interior, which I prefer.

I was so set on a dark interior that although I preferred other exterior colors than those offered with the black interior I settled for choosing from what was available with the black.
The black will get soiled just like the parchment but the black will hide it while with the parchment it will stand out.
Also from a security standpoint if you leave something in the back of the car the parchment tends to define it should someone peer in while the black hides it better so there is less chance of a break in.

Napoleon,,,,,I also went with the black interior. As GRDX stated, its not that the black will not get dirty, but it will not show the dirt as much and will "look" cleaner
If you wear denim jeans, they may stain the seats....If you clean them often, it will not stain permanently but will require more TLC thats for sure. As much as I like the look of a tan interior, nothing beats a black interior for the ease of ownership and as much as I like cleaning my cars, I prefer to wash the exterior.....

I'm an environmental scientist... I wear jeans to work every day so I guess that will be a huge factor
I had no clue that jeans could rub off, I'd never heard of that before!! Yeah I love love love the look of the parchment (the two tone dash), but I do wear jeans on a daily basis...

Weather... do you find it hard to keep the White Pearl clean? As much as it's hard to keep the black clean, I'd think it's just as hard with the White. Since you have TWO white Acura's I figure you are the one to ask!
I am not sure Weather is the right person to ask.....he seems too "anal" regarding cleaning.
No offence Weather! I hope to get 10% of your "drive to keep the vehicles clean", so mine would look pretty longer.

Advantage: - Looks fantastic when clean
- Doesn't show swirl marks from washing the vehicle
- Easy to wax
Drawback: - Harder to repaint should you ever be involved in an accident.
- During the winter (and you live n NY state from what I could
see) you will see a collection of brake dust in the clear that will
make it look as if you have little rust spots. They are
removeable but require a little of elbow grease in the spring
unless you use a clay bar.
I love a white vehicle and as the user below stated, I am as anal as they get when it comes to vehicle detailing...If you have any other questions, don;t hesitate.
Thanks weather! And yes you are close, I live in New Jersey. I am definitely not as meticulous about detailing which is why I'm leaning away from White. I do have to admit I'm completely indecisive which color I like best. I only know I'm not a fan of the red and I'm not detailed enough to own white. Every other color is in play though
This website has been a great help with information though; so glad I found it. The more I read, the harder it is to be patient until Spring/early summer 2013 because it seems like a great vehicle.

Napoleon....If you are not overly keen on white because of its higher maintenance, I would say the the best color to get at this point would be...and the way I would go if I didn't have the white....amber browstone (or silver moon).
Amber brownstone will look good great clean and will appear very rich and sophisticated but when dirty will not look as nice.
Silver moon is also another easy color to maintain but for me, silver don't do it for me although a best friend of mine will never buy anything BUT silver cars. For the record, he hates detailing cars *lol*

must have black interior b/c of the dirt factor, but i will say regular leather conditioning is a must with black otherwise it will look a bit dull if not maintained. the light colored interiors in honda/acuras tend to love dyes. jeans, leather jackets, leather belts...you will end up dying your seats. if you have kids...black is the way to go.
as far as the exterior colors...i own two gray cars and they are meticulously kept. silver is by the easiest color to maintain. it hides dirt and scratches much better than white. white pearls will hide swirls pretty well but show the little specks of road tar (i've detailed white cars...OMG...road tar is a PITA). the other car in the house is silver. it hides rain spots pretty well and light scratches. i agree with weather that a white can be beautiful when kept clean. if you fail to keep the exterior clean a white car will end up looking off white (dirty). dark colored cars will show salt and rain drops but hide some of the road grime. light colored cars will show more road grime, but hide scratches and dirt a bit more. give and take. i won't EVER let my cars get so bad that crap gets caked on. weekly baths, no less.

Napoleon....Graphite is still fairly dark color and the forged silver is more bluish which looks great as well HOWEVER, as TLtrigirl said, silver is one easy color to maintain. The amber browstone looks good in person (at least our Canadian version which is called Urban Titanium) so check it out and keep us posted.
Also, while I am anal about my car, meet the next one in line after me (TLtrigirl) (lol). I swear that she has the same peeves as me, is as obsessed about her car as me and while she does take hers in the rain, she still has a special place in my eyes - To meet a woman who is as attentive to car details and like to stay in shape like me...you gotta love that!

Most difficult for me has been to keep all that glass clean. So much pollen etc in the air. Also, my car stays outside all the time (24/7) - garage too full and open parking at work.
I have Forged silver. It is not entirely correct that it is blue. The color has dramatic shifts based on light (time of day, angle of sun etc). To me it seems to go from light blue to dark grey (not as dark as graphite).
Its been easy to maintain so far by using optimum no rinse every weekend. Only takes one hour or so for the exterior.

^^^ That is what I trying to say...sorry if it didn't come out as such but you are correct that its not blue but has more of a bluish tinge compared to what the name would imply. I think that is what confuses some people....I agree that its a great color and have seen some TL in that color and looks really good!
When I went for a test drive a month ago, the Forged Silver is the color that caught my eye first and that was what I was leaning towards. But then I saw the other colors more and that just made it more confusing
But I think I'm 95% convinced that the black leather is what I need since my job involves wearing jeans and getting muddy from time to time. Plus my dog tracks dirt/mud. Kids are still another 4-5 years out (unless the gf and I have an "oops") but I'll have this vehicle at that point so have to keep that in mind now.
I will update as things progress. I'm still several months out, plus hoping by June I can maybe get $2500-3000 below MSRP by that point. I'm adding the sport runners, protection package, roof rails, and MAYBE the fog lights. So trying to get the vehicle price as low as I can before additions. Speaking of, am I the only one who finds it silly to sell the Roof Rails separate from the cross bars? I would think you need those together (not to mention its $650 + $250). Hmm I feel another thread coming....

aks1972... I'd love to see photos of how your forged silver looks if you're willing to post!
I could post pics of mine in a day or two, but for now......
