Question How old is the typical RDX owner

I'm just curious how old the average person who purchases the RDX is on this forum. If you don't mind disclosing your age, please respond with your age/sex. Thanks

I am 30 years old and male.

I'll mess up the curve by admitting that we were going to go to Sweden to pick up a new XC60(replacing our '10 XC60 T6) this past summer...to celebrate my, ahem, 60th birthday. I have no idea how I got this old. BTW, CoachRick is a male.

We are retired, husband and wife share the RDX. Really, in my opinion, this vehicle appeals to people who need extra room in the hatch area, a not very big rear seating space, not more than one child, memory seating and easy access in and out.

You can be 20, you can be 70, the use of the vehicle should be the concern.

We need the space because we are active in the community and need the hatch for transporting things frequently.

Think your needs not your age.

Just wondering, why do you think only 1 child can fit in the back of it?

I frequently have my grandson in his car seat in the back. Seems like there is plenty of room for a second car seat with the associated kid stuff...

I'll be 65 in a couple weeks. Wife is 63.

Our kids tell us Acuras are old people's cars.

Who really cares? We like it. It's the nicest (and most expensive) car we've owned. Then again, so was the CR-V we traded in on it.

Male 34 with spouse and two kids. The RDX is the perfect size for day to day. Perhaps tight for out of town trips with the kiddos but still fits.

This opinion comes from having two children in the past. One child is fine in the back seat, and the second child may fit in their own car seat. But, as soon as child #2 starts moving and doing things, having the kids sitting so close together starts to create problems. They just can't keep their hands to themselves and the "fun" begins. So as soon as we had child #2 we got a mini van with the third seat in the back (the only 3rd seat vehicle available at that time). One child claimed the middle seat area, the other claimed the 3rd row seat. And peace was had by all.

They could keep their own toys, blankets, food, whatever on their own personal seat area. Worked great till they were teens, then nothing works.

This is all my experience and others may feel differently.

Dang! And I mean that in only the most complimentary way.

My DW reminds me from time to time of OUR age difference...and it's only FIVE years!

Wife and I are in our 40's. We bought the 2013 RDX AWD (base) as her car and 2013 Jetta SportWagen for me, but she usually drives the SportWagen and I either drive my truck (2003 Tundra TRD) or sometimes the RDX.

Congrats! My wife and i just had our first two months ago. Trunk space is my only real disappointment, i may have to trade up to an MDX in the next year or so.

Thanks!! Congrats to you, too! Why are you disappointed wth the cargo space? That's one ofthe reasons why I purchased the RDX.

^^ I have the RDX and have not had any issue with the cargo space but then again, I don't have kids, even though I am a kid at heart Congrats on your new RDX and the soon to be addition to your family BTW. The RDX is a great vehicle and judging by the comments in the MDX section about the dual screen and some of the glitches it encounters, I am glad that the RDX didn't have this set up.

I guess the TLX will have the same issue but our saving grace is that Acura is not going to release the TLX so we won't have to worry about the dual screen problems *lol*

Yeah the trunk space was also a factor when we purchased as well. With the seats down you can fit almost anything within reason into the Rdx, which is nice. However with the car seat and the baby/wife sitting back there that is just not an option most of the time. So with the stroller in the cargo area, (peg perego pliko four) half of the floor space is eaten up already. This leaves some adjusting if you purchase a lot of groceries or go on costco runs. Now most people don't go to costco every week so it's not that big of an issue. But i'm finding myself having to rearrange things more and more on a regular basis. At the end of the day i always get everything to fit, (with front seat) i just thought it would be easier in theory than it has actually been in practice. I've found myself stacking things higher than the back seats to where i can barely see out of the rear window.
and this is with an infant who has no real toys or "junk" yet lol

This has just been my experience though, some people are master packers/organizers. I am far from it.
If you remember in a few months after the kid is born, maybe come back and share your experience. I'd be interested in hearing it.

cheers!

PS. You should probably also go do whatever your heart desires... NOW, yes, RIGHT NOW!.. lol your time will no longer be your own soon.

It is tricky to utilize the space efficiently. I think that's one reason we see so many Volvo wagons and Subie Outbacks on the road. That extra space makes a big difference!

Thanks for your detailed review, I really appreciate it! I know the time I will be losing once the kid is here since most of my friend already have kids. Trust me, I am cramming in all I can right now. :-)

My GTI lease just ended over the weekend and now I'm driving an '02 Camry XLE that my dad bought new. It was free, so I can't complain. I have a wife and a 2-year-old. The GTI was big enough most of the time, even on Costco runs, but only when we left the stroller at home. Otherwise, we had to take my wife's Passat. By the time I replace the Camry with a new car, however, I'll probably have 2 kids and I'm not sure the RDX will be big enough. The MDX is out of my price range, so I'll probably be looking at the new Pilot. The Pilot and RDX should cost about the same, so I'd be getting a ton more practicality, but no driver excitement... We'll see how I feel about that after living with the Camry for awhile.

I know many people are inherently "nosey and want to know things"...but, as someone else here said...who cares about the age of buyers....except the bean counters at the auto manufacturers. If you like something and it fits your needs and wants...you buy it...no matter what age. Corvettes are driven by all ages...but, yes, many are baby boomers with money to spend in their golden years...a reward for all the years of hard work, sacrifice, etc.

To me an RDX is a great family vehicle...for a couple with small kids, etc. It's versatile, safe, reliable, etc. And even for "empty nesters" with just 2 left in the house...it is comfortable, reliable, fairly economical to operate...with seats down has room to haul some good sized "things." It screams off the stop light! If you really haven't tried it....trust me...it will out run the Mustang GT's I used to own for the first block. Not so much the new 420 hp ones. But, I've had a couple of stop light races with it...and it shocks some folks. Leaves those Audi A4's in the dust! LOL!! They think they are the king of the roads with their A4's! Cocky bunch they are! LOL!
