how do I remove wax from black trim?

Hi,

A few weeks ago, I waxed our 2013 RDX. I thought I was careful, but it looks like I must have gotten some wax on the black bumper and the long black plastic trim under the doors. Right after I wash the car, I don't see it, but later I see light colored blotches that I assume are from getting wax on the plastic.

I figure part of the problem is that the plastic is textured rather than smooth. What is the best way to remove that wax?

Thanks,

Gregg

Dishwashing soap like Dawn will strip wax. Follow that with Aerospace 303. You can also use something like "back to Black" but you'll still want to remove the wax first.

Use a short bristle scrub brush with the Dawn dish soap due to the "texture" of the black area. The Dawn will also remove any wax from the painted area of the body. After everything drys, masking painters tape the black area and re wax your painted area.

Then... Don't forget to apply 303 on all the black areas including trim between the windows and your black "cat whiskers" at the lowest area of your door windows. You need 303 UV sun protection on ALL the black areas of your vehicle.

Thank you both for the helpful information. I'll give this a try.

You could also try using some APC if Dawn doesn't work.

I'm not sure if APCs (aspirin, phenacetin, and caffeine ) will work. None of y'all know what APC is but it'll bring back fond memories in ARascal. Nothing like washing down a couple of APCs with a slug of GI gin (AKA terpin hydrate and codeine).

I use 'Black Wow' and the pre-cleaner and brush that comes with it. It seems to clean pretty well. The Black Wow itself is silicone based. Requires a few treatments to get the black back but works fairly well.
