First service
Okay, after 4 months and 2000 miles, I am still at 80% oil life... It has dropped at about every 750 miles - so at this rate, I would reach 0 at 7500 miles. I know the system takes driving style, speed, etc into account.
I'm just curious how fact others are moving toward that first service.

I was at 40% last I checked and will hit 5,000 miles on my drive home this evening. Wouldn't be surprised if the maintenance minder is down to 30%. I'll still wait till I hit 10-15% before I bring it in.

Were you guys going to switch over to synthetic oil after the first oil change or stick with the regular stuff?
I've been using Mobil 1 in my 06 TSX since the 2nd oil change and I still don't use any oil between changes (90,000 miles on odo now). I purchase the oil from Wal-Mart when either vehicle is due and take down to the Acura dealership. They charge about $25 (labor, oil filter, crush washer, oil/trash disposal), top off windshield wiper fluid, vehicle inspection, and wash the vehicle afterwards. I’ve always used Mobil 1 in the RDX with no oil consumption between changes.
I never added any oil or fuel additives to either car. Both engines drive like new.

Honda Motor Corp. uses special "break in oil" in the new engines. Fact. I discussed this with Honda regional service techs. They want the oil to stay in, as others here have said...until approx that 15% mark on the HID. OR...if you've reached 1 yr. in service and have not hit the 15% yet....then have it changed.
It's a different "oil changing world" out there now. Some years ago....I changed oil in a high performance factory engine every 1,000 miles. A little overkill....but, not by a whole lot. My friend changed his every 500 miles.
It was hard for me to get used to the "thinner oils" used now and the miles between oil changes. But, now I'm on board with what the Honda engineers are saying, and why. I have a background in gas engines, diesels, and turbine engines. Just got to get with the new designs, engineering advancements, etc. It was kinda hard for me to get used to it.
But, these new engines are great. The Honda 4 cyl. engines are among the best....based on their racing heritage. That Acura TSX engine is superb. The V6's are catching up for sure.
