What's your favorite part of the navigation system?
I am really trying to like the navi but feel it's so much easier to type the address on my google maps (iPhone) and use that as the navi...
Is there any way to send the address from iPhone to RDX navi?

As you've probably noticed, quite a bit has been written about the nav on this forum (with a few contributions by me
).
If I had to choose a "favorite part" it would simply be that it's built in. I was really looking forward to having a GPS easily accessible all the time. (I soon discovered it isn't.)
I will never, ever buy a car equipped with a nav that can't be accessed by the passenger while the vehicle is in motion unless the voice recognition is a lot better.
Sending an address from an iPhone to the nav is not possible AFAIK. If you've read through other threads on the subject, you'll see that traveling with a passenger who is using a GPS app on an iPhone is not unusual. Pretty sad, eh?

I wish they would sell the HID light package without making it part of Navi/Tech package...It's so dumb that they don't allow you to send addresses from your phone to the Nav.
Audi actually has a "lighting package"

You can't send an address to the nav from your iPhone, but you CAN get turn-by-turn directions over your car's audio system.
What you have to do is of course first pair your phone with the vehicle. then select "AUX" on your car's audio system. The turn-by-turn directions spoken by the phone will now be broadcast through your car's speakers.
Now, the downside is that you can't have your regular audio playing - unless you are also streaming audio from your phone. But it is a lot easier to hear.

I like it because it's built in and has a nice big bright shaded display. The non-ability to mess with it while you're moving is a bit of an annoyance but not that big of a deal to us. We haven't had any issues with it leading us astray but haven't used it all that much for actual navigation. A touch screen might be nice, tho.
On an unrelated note, our 2013 Accord will accept audio prompts from iphone over bluetooth even while the radio is playing. We don't have nav on our accord.
My favorite part about the nav on my RDX is just that the prompts come through the cars speakers. My portable unit is sometimes not loud enough. I preferred the navigation on my 2010 TSX as it would allow maximum control while the vehicle is in motion.

The maps and the size of the screen is my favorite part. i will also take a garmin on longer trips so i can navigate places as im driving easier but the giant acura screen keeps the garmin in check from dumping me off some one lane backroad to find a gas station near a bunch of intersections. When i do program my acura nav to take me somewhere the lane guidance and distance to turn guidance is exceptional.
I don't understand how they can screw up the 2013/2014 RDX navigation so bad. I have a 2012 MDX and a 2012 TL and their navigation units work just fine. I can edit routes while driving. I can add detours to my destination while moving. The GPS doesn't automatically reroute without telling you.
Also, has anyone with other newer Acuras noticed how bad the accuracy is on the dial when trying to move around the map? On my MDX/TL I can precisely locate the target. But on the RDX the resolution of the target scrolling seems horrible.

I forgot to mention that. The lane guidance was really helpful when we visited LA. None of our Garmins had it. Those freeways can be pretty confusing for LA newbies.
The nav for me is the most disappointing aspect of the RDX. Difficult to enter addresses (after almost a year, the wheel just doesn't come natural). The voice commands never work and difficult to drill through the menus. The good side is the actual maps and directions are rock solid but the interface is horrid. (My 2007 Prius was a billion times better as a pure Nav system.)
I am thinking about getting this SUV. What did you mean by this statement? The GPS actually tells you when it is re-routing instead of doing it quietly? Or that it doesn't re-route automatically, period? Sorry, I'm kinda slow. lol Thanks.

It actually took me a while to figure out why my navigation sound wasn't working.
I wonder if someone is working on an override like those available for Lexus and other cars. Not being able to modify the route or add new destinations, even look for gas stations while driving is bad.
The only thing I like about the GPS is the size and placement. Trying to input an address is a frustrating exercise in patience. Forget about voice commands. I keep my Garmin 2595 in the console and use Waze or Siri while driving when I need a quick find.
Like if you have a route planned and are navigating the route the GPS will change the route without telling you. This could be because I have a setting incorrect (such as traffic rerouting or something), but I'm fairly sure I have it set the same as my TL.
AAAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!
....
I have never seen such a drastic change as a software update on in-car navi's.
Would be really nice, but I seriously doubt it will ever happen unless someone hacks into it.
I just got back from a 1500 mile trip and am convinced that the best upgrade would be to rip it out and use the little shelf for a Garmin. Trying to find a restaurant in the next town - something we want to do frequently - was impossible.
I was recently sent a JD Powers survey about nav on the RDX. They had a series of questions in the survey centering around using the nav on your cell phone and mirroring the cell phone display onto the main screen in the car. Sounds interesting and could solve many of the gripes with the RDX nav in the future.
