Dash Material - Cleaning Products

I'm curious if anyone knows what material the dash is made out of in the RDX. It has some give to it - when I push down, it's a little spongy. It is leather, vinyl, etc.?

I'm specifically asking because I'm deciding how to clean/protect it. I'm sure over time it is going to fade and so I'm looking at which Griot's product to use on it:
http://www.griotsgarage.com/category...Picks&page=all

Has anyone used any product on the leather seats? I'm debating what's the best to use.

If anyone has comments on any of that, I'd welcome them. Thanks.

on our 3rd gen TL's we're seeing dash cracks!
I wouldnt use any kind of product on it!

i just use a damp microfiber cloth with a little soap on it.
maybe woolite would be a better cleaning solution than soap.

Follow the recommendations in the owners manual, page 313. It's the best advice.

I use the zaino z10 leather treatment. It leaves a nice feel and smells like new leather.

I use the Griot's Interior Cleaner on vinyl and leather. It's good stuff. I have also used Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner on leather seating with no problems. Stay with the microfiber towels on anything; waxing, upholstery cleaning, polishing.

Vacuum with brush attachment will get rid of the dust. Nothing else is necessary if the dash isn't dirty.

For cleaning, yes...but you don't use/recommend any sort of protectant? That dash gets hammered by the sun.

I'm with you on that; but just driving a couple hours a day in the Texas sun can be a killer! I know the auto glass has UV protection built in; but the Texas sun can bake right through that!

I certainly don't believe the marketing claims for most of the protectant products; but I guess I wipe down the dash with some sort of interior protectant maybe once a month...otherwise, just a towel wipe down.

As frequently as we trade vehicles, we've not experienced dash problems since maybe our '91 Miata

^^ I'd like to trade your Texas Heat problem over our Canadian bitterly cold any day!!

I know that I don't want to put anything which will add a shine to the dash....that drives me bonker! I guess I never really had to use anything until now but if people had good options, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

If you are that concerned, but a windshield sun shade to use when parked, but I am in Atlanta, tons of sun and UV, and after 39 months my M37S dash was fine, they design the materials better today than the years of cracked dashes.

Oh, I know about Atlanta...25 years as a tennis pro there...moving the car at various times during the day to find the shade! I guess you folks have had enough rain to clear out the pine pollen this year! I remember years when you couldn't tell the color of the tennis court from the color of the ball!!

Some of the old fragile dashes WERE from the old days...80s and 90s Z cars, our Miata, late 80s Maxima...were some I remember looked pretty horrible or had to be babied. A lot of folks bought dash COVERS to help mitigate the problem, especially in the Z cars.

Slight Lane Veer -

My search-fu is admittedly weak as I have seen it posted here before but it escapes me now.

I am looking for a cleaning agent to remove scuff marks off of tan door thresholds? Just some very light discoloration from folks dragging their shoes across this area, thinking a household cleaner would work, what say you folks?

For Bad black scuff marks from my wife's shoes I use Magic Eraser.
