Anyone have a guess to cost for repainting a WDP front bumper cover off of a 2017 Tech (no sensors)? It has a couple of scratches that need to be smoothed before it gets painted but is otherwise fine. I would want to remove it from the car and drop it off to a body shop and reinstall it when I get it back.

Thoughts?

 

This probably isn't a lot of help - I had the front bumper cover replaced after kissing the turnpike center barrier in the snow last spring. Scratches were too deep to rework it. The ship bid 2.6 hours to "overhaul" the bumper - meaning replace and repaint it. The shop's hourly rate for man hours was $54/hr. Total cost of the bumper repair, including a new bumper cover, was around $420.

That's probably more like it. You're also going to have trouble getting an exact color match if you just take them the bumper, unless it's one of the darker colors.

I talked to a local body shop. He said it's probably in the area of $500, maybe a little more. He mentioned that the color isn't what's difficult to match, it's the pearlessence. He said that I could bring the bumper cover and the gas door and that would be sufficient for him to be able to get a good match.

I also talked to him about possibly repairing the damaged area and respraying just that. He will look at it when I bring the car over to him and we'll go from there.

Picking it up tomorrow...
