Question Air Conditioner

During most of my driving, the air conditioner has been on and I noticed that it leaked (i guess water) whenever I parked. Is this normal or something to worry about?

All air conditioners - home or car - produce condensation. It's perfectly normal.

Have you not noticed this with other cars?

I still remember seeing that puddle beneath my first A/C'd car decades ago. Scared the livin daylights outta me!

On a side note, moisture can collect within the inner workings/ducts of the vehicle, as well. The moisture could cause mildue buildup and give off a musty smell on the next drive. To alleviate this, I got into the habit of not running my A/C in recirculation mode. Additionally, it seems to help to turn off the A/C compressor (leaving the fan running) a few blocks before reaching my destination.

Definitely agree on the mildew! My previous two VWs hardly drained at all and I was always having the "dirty socks" smell I'm always glad to see the puddle in the garage
