Acura's Styling Direction

Just curious as to what everyone thinks about Acura's styling direction. The Jewel Eyes will soon be on every model and although its good for brand identity, it will become the case of Small, Medium and Large. Take a look at Audi. Put all the models forward facing and they all look alike. IMO, this stifles creativity.... kind of like how Porsche is stuck with the original 911 or how BMW is stuck with the kidney grille. But overall, I like the direction Acura is headed towards... at least they toned down the power plenum shield or whatever they called it.

I think they are spot on with the changes.

Acura has an efficient look. The one thing I wish they would offer is a sport trim on some vehicles where they have visible exhaust tips. Acura has gone for the softer and family type of look on vehicles.

Having a conservative look keeps the cops away (vehicular discrimination), so I don't want it to look racy.

I would look at it differently. Porsche purposely sticks to the original 911 shape. There is immediate brand identity; an identity that is held in very high regard. And manufacturers would kill to have BMW's brand identity of the kidney grille.

Audi's open face grille and Cadillac's evolving of the Art & Science theme across its lineup speak to the power of brand identity.

Acura missed the mark with the jagged power plenum grille and has now softened it into a successful, unique design execution (in my opinion).

It will be interesting to see how Lexus' Predator grille will stand up over time. I personally would never own a Lexus vehicle with that horrendous face, but somehow their sales seem to keep on flowing...

Don't worry. The premium SUV market is getting crowded as more and more models are being introduced. I'm sure you'll be able to find your preferred ride after all. It's good that you have plenty of choice.
