Acura Care Maintenance Plan
Acura Care Maintenance Plan
Bought a 2014 RDX couple of weeks back & loving it. The dealer sold me the 4 yr maintenance plan (fluids, filter & tire rotation) for $1100. I have to cancel it within 30 days if I don't want it. Dealer's estimate for maintenance was 0W15 oil change $59, Trans fluid $90, Transfer case fluid $90, Rear diff. fluid $98, brake fluid $141, air & cabin filter $132. All these + tire rotation are covered for 4 yrs/48k miles. Is this plan worth it? I typically put ~12k miles per year. Thanks.

)So, you're paying for 8 oil changes and the ancillary stuff IN ADVANCE...I'd make sure the price represented at least a 20% discount or included some other significant incentive.

Are you planning on keeping the RDX for at least 4 years? That would be a prerequisite for me to have the maintenance plan because, even if the plan was transferable, it probably would make much of a difference in the car's resale price. On my previous car, I bought a lifetime LOF plan and that saved me a bundle since I kept the car for 10 years.
I'd run the numbers on what the package is actually worth and decide if it's prudent to pay in advance(to receive a significant discount). Unless the discount is substantial, why pay years in advance for a service?

With the service plan you don't pay sales tax in most states so that needs to be figured in as well.
I would recommend you do. Air and cabin filter changes can be done in your sleep for $40-50 or so, buying the filters on Amazon or Rockauto. $132 is a rip-off. Also, my local dealer also offers service specials every month, so you might want to investigate yours as well (pretty decent prices, so no need to prepay for a deal).
