2016 RDX Sport Bra

Hi,
I am looking for a Sport Bra for my 2016 Advance, very similar to the one shown as an example at 2013, 2014, 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Bras - Colgan BS5132BC - Colgan Sport Bras. I have one for my MDX from Colgan Sport Bra - Colgan Custom but they don't make one for the RDX. Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, I've always been one to have sports bras on my vehicles. Have you ever considered a clear bra like 3m etc? I have done this with my last few vehicles including my 16 RDX and to me they are far superior to the sports bras and much better protection. Once you have a sports bra on a vehicle you are pretty much committed to one so you can't see the difference in paint fade. Just a suggestion

I've always did sports bra back in the day when I had coupe/sedans. Since moving to taller SUVs, it don't get the same type of hood damage like I would in shorter coupe/sedans. More frontal damage from debris/road rash. I did the 3M clear bra for all three vehicles and that has been 10X better than the sports bra of old. The 3M clear bra also provides UV protection and is almost invisible unless you really look for it. I also put 3M clear bra on the side mirrors and headlights/fogs to help with road rash and UV hazing. It has a 5yr vehicle warranty against peeling and fading.

The big downside is cost between $250-$400 depending on installer.

Yeah, I have a Sports Bra on my '03 MDX and I am learning more about the 3M Product. Are there any challenges with bubbles, peeling or the original color not showing through on the 3M product? The reviews online are somewhat mixed, thus I ask. I suppose it depends on the Certified Installer's skill...

I did a certified installer that custom fit from a larger sheet. That way you can add more or do custom fit like I have the a-spec front lip on my TSX (a standard kit wouldn't fit completely). I also added more 3M film on the MDX side finders since it is wedge shaped and exposed to more frontal debris.

I had zero issues with peeling, bubbling, drive-thru car washers, pressure washers, waxing or fading. I had my first 3M clear bra installed on my 06 TSX when new and it started to fade because of UV damage 4 1/2 yrs later in 2010. Since I had a 5 yr warranty, they replaced for free with an updated 3M clear bra formula more resistant to UV fading. Zero issues with all three vehicles since with new formula. I've taken quite a few 2-3 foot wide tumble weeds to the front at 80 mph along with normal hwy debris with no damage.

I never known anyone regret getting a clear bra. I will say on my 16 RDX there was a corner that was not adhering properly right after the install and the place took it off and put a new one on. I'm pretty sure all operate like that. You may have a few very small if any bubbles but they go away after a bit in the sun. One thing for sure is I will never have a vehicle without one. I too got the whole front done to include mirrors. If you are interested I recommend going with a business that works on exotic cars in your area as they tipically do the best work. I don't miss dirt and grime getting underneath the sports bra

Thanks for the awesome advice. I'll look for a certified installer in my area and go from there.

So I am not the only one with my mind in the gutter......

But for real though, nobody uses those black nasty vinyl hood covers anymore. I personally find it amusing how they are installed to protect the car, yet any car I have ever seen with one has giant paint damage underneath. Have 3m on my rdx's hood and you can tell it is old, maybe even from 2007, but I am certain it has helped amazingly. Now I am wondering if I should peel it off my hood or not...don't want different shades of blue.

I never understood the vinyl ones. Even when properly installed they flap in the wind and any dirt that is trapped underneath gets ground into the paint.

You won't have different shades of paint - but - you will have a different finish. If the 3M was installed on a fairly new car, then the paint underneath will be all shiny and new while the rest of the car will have weathered.

Depending on the rest of your car, you may be able to hide the effects with a good detailing.

Me? I'd leave it on until it starts to peel off and then I'd replace it. Most have a lifetime guarantee.

The 3M ones are pretty good. My sister slapped a Postal vehicle with her right mirror and it didn't even leave a mark.

I never understood how it acquired that name. I can only imagine...

Agree! Beyond the dirt being ground into the paint, you also have the inevitable rust buildup. Yeah I probably will just keep it till it starts peeling, then get a good detail job when I remove it.

Plan on keeping the rdx for a little while. Depending on when it peels, that will decide if I install another one after.
