TPMS for 2016 RDX

Hi,

We have traded in our 2014 RDX for a new 2016 RDX. We already have winter tires with TPMS and we'd like to use them with the new car. I was told by the dealer that the sensors won't work on the new RDX and new ones should be put on. I was quoted $200(part) + $95 (labor).

After a quick google search, I found the part numbers are different. TPMS for 2014 RDX is 42753-TX4-A51 and for 2016 is 42753-TZ3-A51.

Does this mean it won't work on the new RDX?

Thanks for your help.

Cross reference on oemacuraparts.com shows 13-16 use the same sensors. I'd run the same wheels and tires you have and see how it goes. I bet you'll be fine.

I think it is obvious from the "acura protection package" (which is named to imply that it has a connection to Acura but actually is worthless aftermarket trash) that your dealer is trying to make lots of money from you by selling you tings you don't need. Tirerack sells compatible sensors for $63 and you can get a set for well under $200 on eBay (unless it is $200 for the set which isn't too outrageous.

Sorry, I should have mentioned $200 for the set of 4 sensors.

I ordered 4 OEM sensors with the washer and nut needed for $104 plus shipping from oemacuraparts.com a few weeks ago for my winter setup. But as I said before, you won't need them if you have the setup for a '14.

I really don't think you wil need new ones at all. The part number may have changed, but doesn't mean the part won't work or fit anymore. Manufacturers sometimes do this to differentiate years and sometimes they upgraded something minor. Try it before paying.

Looks like one of those "ask questions but leave without feedback" threads. Nice.

Hi, the dealer insisted they won't work and they replaced them without my permission. So I don't know if they would have worked.

Thanks for the update. So you got all new sensors for $200 or so. That's not a bad deal in itself even though potentially unnecessary. Did he offer to reduce the price since he did it without your permission?

That dealer would have his day go downhill very quickly with me. At the least I would have my money back. Ever heard of the BBB? Works good.
