2016 RDX Engine Ticking Noise
2016 RDX Engine Ticking Noise
Car makes ticking noise when it is started. Sound remains when shifted into Reverse and when shifted from Reverse into Drive. Dealer says sound is normal and due to the fact that it is a direct injection engine. I told dealer our 2013 does not make ticking noise and dealer said engine in 2013 and 2016 are not the same - is this true. Also, is ticking noise a problem or indicative of a bigger issue. Comments appreciate and thanks in advance.
The RDX does not have direct injection engines. I have both a 2014 and 2018 RDX. Engines are the same. No direct injection.
My wife drives a 2018 TLX with V6. It does have a direct injection engine and it does tick a little.
IF your RDX ticks it could be the valves need adjustment. The manual says adjust them if they become noisy.

Same ticking issue - i get mixed feedback: a) "It's fine, that's just every 3.5L Honda engine" or b) "Valves need adjusting". Sometimes it's louder, sometimes it's quieter (loudest on cold start).
Here are 2 separate occasions that I filmed in the winter:
~120K km or ~75K miles. Any feedback from be appreciated.

Anyone ever get to the bottom of it?
