2016 m.p.g.

Hello, For those who may be interested, we just took our 2016 RDX FWD for a little freeway drive, a mini road trip of approximately 140miles. The car's mpg display indicated 30.2 mpg when we arrived back home. I was very impressed, considering we started with just over 100 miles on the odo. I will do the hand calcs when the tank is close to empty.......just for fun. Sir-Col

Real good numbers, how fast were you cruising?

Those mileage indicators tend to be "optimistic" in Acura's favor. Mine is nearly 10% so.

That's nonetheless impressive and I really want to hear results when you do a manual calculation.

Just as a comparison point, when my '15 AWD had about 1k on the odo, we took a drive from NH into MA that was about 40 miles, all highway. I had just filled up about 2 miles from the highway before leaving. When I was pulling off the exit after our journey, the MPG's were reading 30.5. Average speed was 70-75 mph (average traffic speed for those who travel the Route 3 Corridor in MA). Given the best MPG's I ever got out of the MDX was like 22 (one time, going downhill with the wind behind my back), you could just imagine the big grin on my face.

The technology to get this type of mpgs has been available for a while and car manufacturers only deploy under force from the federal/state governments. Makes you wonder what else they are holding back on until the government forces them?

My first fill up was not a happy one. I got 400km out of 55L of gas. That's just under 14L/100km. Or around 17mpg.

95% was local driving and since its a new car we were very light on the pedal. Anyone else have some figures to share?

I know they are hiding that Flux Capacitor.. and those magnets that you put on the fuel line that increases MPG 10-20%? Where are those on the RDX? Dang corporations. Too dumb to make a profit making better mpg.

I was thinking more "Mr Fusion" to power our flying cars we were promised:

I think this video from Alex on Autos explains why we won't get much better fuel mileage

^^ Explains some things. My 1994 Civic EX coupe 5 speed got 40 mpg on the highway all day. But that car had 125 hp and lots of bells and whistles and safety stuff. What gives?

I just filled up my 2016 RDX, and I got 9.1L/100km (25.85mpg) from the first tank - most of it was local/suburban driving with some highway miles, but no downtown/city driving with lots of stopping at lights/intersections.

I think the mileage is really horrible for the first 100 miles or so. According to the info display, we got 18mpg driving home from the dealer (70 miles on interstate, taking it easy). A couple of days later, with 250 miles on the odometer, we got 29.5mpg on a similar trip. So the first tankful might not accurately represent the car's capability.

My girlfriend and I leased a 2016 Base RDX on June 12th. This is the 3rd Acura I've owned/leased and I am pleased overall with this RDX.

However, it is now June 27th, and with all small town driving (Lakeland, FL) we are averaging a whopping 17.5 miles per gallon in our 2016 RDX, using 93 Octane.

In contrast, my 2014 Lexus IS 350 that I floor everywhere in sport mode gets 20 MPG through the same streets.

Would you mind sharing the numbers on your lease? I'm currently looking at leasing a 2016 for my wife, thanks.

Just about to hit 600 miles on our '16 AWD Advance and the computer says average 25. Mostly highway miles at 75-80mph. This puppy moves so its tough to keep off the pedal for me. I'm used to my TL so I got a lead foot. The RDX destroys my old '10 MDX, I averaged 14mpg in that hog

I don't own an RDX but have a 2015 Lexus NX. The computer on my NX through 5000 miles is 25.1 MPG for an AWD vehicle. I do a combination of highway and local driving. My local driving is a lot of 1 lane roads with congestion and lights. My highway driving is a mix if free flowing 65-70 mph and the bumper to bumper NJ traffic. I think both the RDX and NX are supposed to deliver similar numbers. My prior vehicle was a 2005 Santa Fe AWD that barely got 18 mpg so the 25 I have now is a huge improvement.
