Acura will unveil the new 2016 Acura RDX at the Chicago Auto Show which begins February 14th and runs through February 22nd. Don't miss the debut of the newest Acura RDX at the Chicago Auto Show on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. CST in the Acura booth.
Any forum members going to the show to take some pics? I hope it is going to be the Adv model on display. I want to see if the RDX has:
- 360 degree camera view for parking (mini cams on side view mirrors)
- front parking sensors (not a real big deal)
- 6-way passenger seat
- temp control and/or heated seats for rear passengers
- any updates to dash design
I'm fine with FI or DI 3.5L engine+6AT if the mpgs stay the same or improves (instead of dropping like the MDX).
What is strange is the the article states that the 2016 RDX now has a 9sp-AT to replace the 6sp AT. But the pictures it appears to not be a push-button selector like in the TLX/MDX. Strange. Is this right?
I am not seeing where it says the 2016 RDX has a 9 speed ... ? The closest I found was this:
With the 2016 MDX also getting significant new features and technologies, including a 9-speed automatic transmission, the new RDX and MDX stand as an even more formidable presence in the luxury SUV space.

But that is referring to the 2016 MDX I believe.
you are right....i think it still have the 6 speeds...that is a sucker because the new honda pilot higher trim will have 9 speeds...
I've seen internet articles with the wrong pictures, accessories, and information for the 2016 RDX. It seems they are using copy/paste from others that copy/paste. It seems the Acura website and "Build & Price RDX" link has the right info, once they update to the 2016 model. Acura does a very good job keeping info "hush-hush"
That was one of the worst press releases Honda has ever issued.
- No mention of whether fuel delivery is DI or Port
- Confusion over transmission (why bring the MDX into this? it can have it's own press release)
- No mention of the new torque bias for AWD system. This is not a brand new system, there's no need to be secretive about it. How much torque can be transmitted to the rear? 10%? 50%? Give me some facts!
- "Both the Tech and Advance package can be equipped with Navi". Does this mean it's optional on those trim now? I thought it was standard equipment
Knowing the RDX and Acura's history, I think I know the answers to the questions, but still....very confusing.
Need confirmation from an official Acura site. But I think Autoblog and Leftlane got it wrong. Pictures show the same 6sp tran, a 9sp would have push button selector like the TLX/MDX and new 2016 Pilot.

I think you're right. They could use a conventional shifter with the 9-speed, but why would they when they've used pushbuttons elsewhere? Plus, Acura's own site makes no mention of the 9-speed. You'd think a new transmission would warrant at least a bullet point. Honestly, reusing the proven 6-speed might be a good thing.
Why is Acura UNABLE....and I repeat....UNABLE....to get someone who can design wheels?!? For GOD SAKE! They are hideous! HONDA is designing better wheels and the Pilot, IMHO is better looking, and sexier, bolder than Acura products!
*sigh* Maybe I am just ready to move to another brand after all....
I don't love the redesign but it is certainly an improvement over the blandness of the old model.
What I most want to know now is does it have a heated steering wheel as an option or at least an accessory like on the MDX? I know that's not a huge thing but it may be a dealbreaker for us.
Otherwise I like all the improvements and changes. I still think the steering wheel is not as attractive as some of the others in the Acura lineup but I really appreciate separating the seat heater and ventilation from the touchscreen.
I agree with the above post that the wheels are atrocious. I hope there are other options or at least a sufficient accessory rim. Honda has really put out some ugly rims overall lately. On our MDX one of the secondary reasons we bought the advance package was it was the only rims we could stand and we certainly don't love them.
Otherwise I am liking all the added features I see. It will be nice when the confusion over the nine speed is settled. If it is still a six speed the improved fuel economy must come from the direct injection?

Overall I think it's a great looking vehicle definitely a step forward over the current model. They seem to listen to what it's consumers want in terms of features I just hope the "TECH" isn't replaced by the "ADVANCE" package and will still be available with just navigation and a few other goodies without having to step up and get a bunch of features I wouldn't want or need.
As for the revised AWD system - AMEN, my RDX is awful in snow, I mean awful. Even with a set of good stud less tires the back end doesn't know where it's at half the time. I'm not impressed with it in the snow at all.
My number one + for the vehicle is located on the centre stack, that little VOLUME KNOB.. somebody at Acura is listening.. I was looking at a 2014 Honda Civic.. I love the Apple Car whatever it is but I HATE not having a knob to turn the volume up and down. That along with the CVT is making me shop for a 2013 instead of a brand-new one.

Not to defend acura but those are supposed to be noise reducing wheels. Same pattern as the ilx. So at least they will be quieter at higher speed. Every little bit helps them
Honda used to design some gorgeous wheels.. the HFP series were always beautiful.. the garbage they're designing now is awful and gaudy. I'd take the 14' CRV minus all the tech features the 15' offers because of the wheels alone, the 2015 wheels are hideous.
All this wheel talk! If they're that bad to some of you guys, get aftermarkets or downgrade to old wheels that you do like. You can't see the wheel design when the car's moving or when your in it, so take the car for what the rest of it is! Overall, it's a definite step forward. That's what matters to me
I hope they re-hire or bring whoever out of retirement responsible for designing the powder coated Honda wheels. Whoever is designing these polished aluminium ones is shitting the bed big time. All of the nice Honda wheels I can think of are power coated with the exception of the Accord Touring wheels.
HONDA please employ this person or team to design all of your wheels. Sometimes I look at my CRV steelies and think.. who would buy a car with these as standard equipment..
I have to say I am impressed with the 16 RDX. Let's see the pricing, but I think if they can get the damn shock issue fixed the gf may trade in her 14 Tech for a 16 Advance.

I like it as well. The price point for the advance is going to be higher and as such it will be interesting what people will choose. I would get it when my 14 is done in a year.
I agree the wheels are bad and my current RDX has better rims. Of course my 2010 TL SH-AWD rims are the best I ever had on an Acura vehicle. That said you can always upgrade when you buy but it is expensive.

Maybe it is not the shocks that causing the noise but rather the bushing and or shock mounts. Saw they mentioned it in press release that those are improved
That explains why replacing the shocks doesn't fix the noise
