2015 rdx water drive through depth
I am wondering how deep a puddle the 2015 rdx can go through before it ingests water. I noticed the air intake is on top of the engine. A friend of mine has an a6 and went through a deep puddle and water was sucked in engine. I also had a cayenne turbo and noticed the intakes were under the wheel liners .. much lowè than the rdx. Any thoughts on this.
Ingesting water is only one consideration. Modern cars have significant amounts of electronics fairly low down. Additionally, it takes less than 6 inches of moving water to wash an SUV away. A rule of thumb for a consumer vehicle (ie no one intended specifically for driving through water) is that if the water is deep enough to reach the wheels (so about 3 inches for the RDX) then there will be some damage.
RDX is not going to have issues running through 3" of water. I would not go through water that is deeper than the ground clearance of the vehicle which in this case is about 8 inches with driver. IF the water is moving at all then I would not go through it.
