IMO One Word Here > Bernardi

You will be hard pressed to beat Bernardi's pricing OR selection on any OEM Honda/Acura parts.

Handa is in CA, which would net you a sales tax.

Bernardi is in Boston, plus they are faster to ship! Handa took their full, painful, long, 72 hours before shipping my stuff.

Bernardi shipped within a day.

Well Bernardi is 3 for 3 Thus Far in Recs.

As he did mention the fact he is in Cali (re. sales tax issue) & coupled w/ Sose's shipping experience, I think we have two reasons to scratch Handa from a vendor list. I'll stick w/ my previous rec. of Bernardi.

Hey guys!

I'm the proud new owner of a 2013 White Diamond Pearl AWD w/ Tech.

I paid 35,000 (even) + Tax, destination and license/title fees.

I should mention I got several discounts for being an active duty military member.

This was in the Northern VA area.

My new white RDX base FWD

Just drove home a white base RDX from a Southern Cali dealer (Mission Viejo) for $32,204. Started at $32,900, I wanted $32,000. No trade in. Got free cargo tray ($135), all season mats ($160), 3 free oil changes ($120), and two Acura mugs (??). Hope this helps others to get an even better deal. It's an awsome ride!

My daughter got $1570 off MSRP on the first 2014 Tech AWD RDX sold here in Austin, she was told. She used the CR pricing. Two dealerships offered same deal.

New 2013 RDX FWD & Tech

Purchased a Crystal Black Pearl RDX with Tech and Ebony interior yesterday in the Houston area. Had contacted several dealers and negotiated a purchase price of $34,900 before TTL.

Here is the breakdown:

2013 RDX with Tech: $34,900 (includes $895 destination fee)
State sales tax: $2,181.25
Dealer inventory tax: $75.38
Document fee: $122.50
Inspection fee: $21.75
License Title Fees: $85.75
Road and Bridge Deputy fee: $10.00
Buyer tag fee: $5.00

So total out the door was: $37,401.63

Honestly until I looked at all the fees and taxes, I had no clue how many little things they stuck me with in the finance department. The good deal i negotiated evaporated before my eye. I post all this so others will realize what they are being charged when the sign the purchase agreement.

Dealer fees in my neighborhood run between $450 and $750. Getting near the end of the model year, looks like you got a good deal.

Yeah I am still happy with the deal, it has been 12 years since I negotiated on a brand new car, so I had forgotten all of the fees and taxes they stick you with at signing. I used the fact that the 2014s are arriving as the basis for the entire negotiation. I wanted them to eat the bulk of the depreciation since the car is effectively a year old.

Congrats on your new car. I also live in Houston very near Champion (Autonation) Acura on I-45 S. What dealer did you use?

Also if you had a trade in the sales tax is calculated on the difference between the sales price and the trade it. Yeah you get screwed on the value of the trade in, but the tax offset helps a little.

I went to Autonation Acura in League City, the Internet Sales Manager is Jeremy Pratt, and he was a very nice salesman. I told him what I was quoted from other Acura Dealerships both in Houston and San Antonio (I bought my previous Acura 3.2CL-S from Gunn in San Antonio), and what I was wanting to pay. After some negotiation and a conversation with the GM, I got the deal I was looking for. It was the smoothest new car negotiation I have ever had. I would highly recommend them.

I did not have a trade in. My 3.2CL-s was totalled about a week ago, so I had the insurance check as my down payment. I really wasn't in the market for a new car until I was left without a car.

So I might be getting back into the Acura's (after about 6 years out).

Is this price ok?

2013 RDX AWD w/Tech (USED - 360 miles)

$36,000
+$300 state tax
+ $39 tag
+ 198 dealer misc./doc fees

OTD: $36,537

By being used it will have a higher interest rate on the loan thou.
Need to buy bigger car since I have a kid due in Oct. (hopefully the car is big enough).

^^^ 300$ for tax on a 36 000$ vehicle?!? That's it? Gheez, we have a 13% tax rate for everything we buy here (except n certain type of food). So on a 40 000$ RDX (what we pay here), that means we pay 5200$ in taxes!

If that is all you guys pay in the US, no wonder some are considering raising taxes....that is incredibly low if I read this correctly. Please tell me I am wrong

South Carolina caps vehicle tax at a whopping $300 bucks! If you drive to Atlanta (about 3 hours away) you pay a full tax (about 7%).
North Carolina is 3.3% or something like that.
I found that out while shopping around for cars and decided that before we move out we gotta buy a nice car here to save money.

Well, that and we need a bigger car. It's either this or a CX-5 or a Santa Fe. (both of these go for about $31k OTD)

BTW, you should see the gas price here.... about 3.19 83 octane and about 3.98 for diesel! They have very low tax on regular gas but about normal tax on diesel.

Depending on where you move, they will likely have a way to 'get' you...especially if the auto purchase date was within 90 days of the move(YMMV and all that).

Central Texas top tier fuels can be found +- $3.25 for 87, $3.65 for 103. The 'poor' diesel drivers are paying just under $4. I know that's lower than many areas in North America; but it still takes some of the fun out of driving!

Try $4.06 today for 87 in Chicago area. About $4.36-$4.51 for premium. First excuse a couple of weeks ago was floods. Latest excuse is "refinery problems". Sucks.

Totally depends on what state you live in and then county and city can also tag along. Chicago was at 10% until they reduced it to 9.5% recently. New Hampshire has no state sales tax at all. However, when sales tax is very low or non-existent you have to watch for other taxes that make up for it. For example, some states have huge annual tag fees that you pay over and over and over again. Some have annual taxes on large personal property items such as cars, boats, riding lawn mowers, etc. They get you one way or the other but some are definitely worse than others.

Well hopefully tonight is the night.

Not new but practically (service loaner vehicle).
2013 Black FWD Tech w/ parchment interior
3k miles

$35,700 OTD
They threw in cargo cover and the rubber cargo mat.
They also have extended warranty on body and lifetime (as long as I'm the owner) for power train. Don't know if that is normal or not.

BTW SC will stiff me later with "vehicle property tax" of about $900... so they get you one way or another.

I wondered if I could keep my FL tag but that might be worse since I would have to pay the full 6% of the value.

Just got a new 2013 white RDX with Tech. Talked the dealer down to 36k out the door. Took awhile, but he eventually realized we weren't going to budge.

Just seems funny that the Chicago area has the highest prices all the time and it's not just because of taxes. It's just one excuse or "reason" after another. Availability of summer blend or winter blend, floods, power outages, refinery "problems", bad gas, etc, etc. Don't other areas of the country have any of these same kind of problems? Regular is $4.09 today everywhere in the suburbs. I'm sure it's $4.20 or more in Chicago city.

Because Chicago. Rest assured that price premium on gasoline is going in some bureaucrat's pocket.

2013 RDX AWD w/ Tech

With the 2014's arriving, there are some deals to be had. Picking up a 2013 RDX AWD with Tech for $1400 under invoice ($35,565). This is well below dealer cost after holdback and floorplan fee, so there must be a hidden factory to dealer incentive for the 2013's.

Is that before or after the delivery charge?

Good deal. I had to fight quite a bit to get it down to $36,100 before the destination charge.

Chicago has its own special blend of gas. You pay more for special blends. You are not alone. Atlanta is in the same boat along with the west coast. They only use gas from west coast refiners. That one is supply and demand.

Why are the 2014 out so early for Acura? These huge discount also hurts resale value. This sound like GM or Ford with those discounts...... I now see why the RDX is so popular

Personally, I call bullsh*t on on all you new owners claiming thousands below invoice. I bought my 2013 RDX at invoice and very happy. I would love to see you peeps that are posting thousands below invoice post copies of you buyers order to show you really paid that little. The RDX is a great value and I find it very hard to believe dealers are that desperate right now to sell below invoice. Yeah, I may be wrong, but prove it, show your buyers orders.

Black Raven,

I certainly see where you are coming from. The truth of the matter is that cars have exceptionally flexible pricing. It would be natural to think that MSRP and Invoice are set-in-stone prices, but the auto industry is far more complex.

I highly suggest reading James Bragg's book and website (FightingChance.com) and Jeff Ostroff's website (CarBuyingTips.com). I can assure you, I was as skeptical about car prices before reading these sites. After reading these, I realized how much I had been taken for in the past. Honestly, it hurt. The truth is far more shocking than you can imagine.

But you are right about something. Prices vary. Prices vary per day. Per week. Per month. Prices vary per region. Prices vary per dealer. I remember learning of a dealer that had no problem selling a car at a $2000 loss because it meant the dealership reached factory incentive that guaranteed they receive a $100,000 bonus for selling X number of cars that quater. Its a very, very complicated business.

If I get a chance I will happily post my purchase documentation.

Cheers,
Glue

So you don't believe that people are getting $1000 or so off invoice at the year end of the vehicle and would like people to take the time to post sales contracts with personal info on them to satisfy your insecurity?

Ok, guy.
