2013 RDX AWD Maintenance Help Requested Before Going to Dealer
Hello Everyone,
I am new to the site and happy to be here! My question is around maintenance that is needed vs maintenence that the would like to sell me.
I have a 2013 RDX AWD, that I bought pre owned (had 12000 miles when I bought it in 2016) , in great condition, is garaged all year with 40000 miles. It is not driven heavily, mostly local driving.
I am trying to assess what maintenance would be necessary and helpful at this juncture. With low mileage, the maintenance minder does not light up like it would if car driven 12k - 15k per year.
Dealer is recommending Brake Fluid Flush, Transmission and Transfer Case Flush. Want to keep the vehicle for another 2-3 more years.
Any input you could provide would be vey helpful!
Thank you for the time!

Brake fluid is every three years regardless of miles. Changing the trans fluid (normal drain & refill replaces about 1/3 of the fluid) is a 30k interval item.
I am not familiar with the transfer case and rear differential, but I do know that they also require regular changes if equipped.
I would change the engine and cabin filter as well. Both can be done easily yourself. There are lots of online videos for that.
The dealers way overcharge for this, especially the cabin filter behind the glovebox. When this feature was first introduced, you had to
take a lot apart to get to it and the dealer labor charge reflected that. Now the hardest part is emptying the glove box. Labor price did not go down.
Neither task even requires a tool.
