Okay, what do we call it?

We've had mostly cars for years, so now that I have the RDX, I don't know how to refer to it.

Examples of how I used to refer to my vehicle:

"I'm going to go get the car washed."
"It's in the car."
"Let's go in your car."
"Where did you park the car?"

I don't want to call the RDX a "truck", and saying "SUV" is awkward.

I think I'm going to make a deal with the wife to just call it the "car" and forget it.

Awkward, but "crossover" is the accurate term. "Truck" wouldn't be technically accurate, either.

I refer to it as the RDX. The C300 is the "car" and the Tribute is the "truck."

Volvo C70 is the 'little car' or 'convertible'. RDX is the 'big car'. More complicated before when we had two Volvos..."I'll take the Volvo" "Which Volvo?"
I believe Japanese auto folks refer to the Lexus RX as a truck...I would think the RDX would follow.

I always called the RDX a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle). Drives like a car, ground clearence and awd like a SUV, and utility you find in a mini-van.

On my NJ vehicle registration the vehicle is classified as a station wagon. Might have to start calling it "The Wagon".

LOL. You're all right, of course. But "CUV" takes three syllables, as does "crossover" and even "RDX". I think I'll just stick to "car" ... it's quick and easy, and just one syllable.

I call the RDX...."My car!" The other vehicle in the garage with inherently cluttered interior is "her car".

After owning over a half-dozen station wagons through the years, I recognize the RX and RDX(especially in FWD) as tall wagons...or tall '5-door liftbacks''.

If you think about it(not TOO much), the CUV acronym is a misnomer. Are all car-based utes to be called CUVs, no matter the size? Or are all compact utes called CUVs regardless of their truck chassis ? CUV could stand for Compact UV; but how are the RDX, RX, XC60 any less 'sporty' than a full-sized Exhibition or Subdivision? What are we 'crossing over'? And how do we measure 'utility'? Must a vehicle be of a certain size to claim 'utility' as one of its features/benefits??? Must it be AWD or 4WD to be 'sport' OR 'utility'??? Dang! Life is sure complicated!

I've always assumed CUV means anything with an uni-construction. SUV is for any vehicle with body on a frame. The lines really get blurred with wagons (like from Subaru) and hatchbacks (Audi A7, Mazda 6 hatchback, etc...).

I just have names for all my vehicles! For example, my little brown Hyundai Accent, I call it "Brownie"....The RDX is a combination between Luxury and Sexy, so the RDX is known as "Sexy Lexy". The TL, well with that is just "Weatherman"! Freaky I know but it works! Its amazing how people refer to my cars by its names now...they'll say, are you picking me with Brownie or Sexy Lexy? *lol*

Rather than giving it a real name, I usually call it "the ute"

Wnen we had a Jetta and Accord we just refered to them as Jetta and Honda. Now we have RDX and Accord still, and we refer to them as Acura and Honda.

I may trade my Honda (its a 2001) for the new MDX next year...things would get complicated then!

And...if you had a pair of them, they would be the 'two utes'(hopefully not on trial ).

My words to identify the RDX is that it is a multi-purpose vehicle. In my opinion, it is the best in its class.

I have seen Mike’s and I think it is not only functional, but beautiful as well.

We simply say here....."going to wash the RDX." Or "taking the TSX today." That's seems simple enough.
Sometimes....it's "the white one" or "the silver one." LOL!!!!

^^ That wouldn't work for me....I have two white ones *lol* That being said, it is a clever approach when you have two different colors

My old G had a name. Roxanne.. Because she no longer to sell her body to the night...

Lol. Think Sting.

My RDX has been referred to so far as "car" or "RDX". I plan on naming her once a name comes to me.

No special reason, but in our house, the RDX is 'the cruiser.'

Neighbors call our RDX 'Ruby,' because of the color. :-)
