2013 RDX AC Problem

When it is warm outside and the AC is on the driver's side blows warm air regardless of the temperature setting. The passenger side will blow cold air even when the two are synced. After about 20 minute of driving while allowing the warm air to blow it will cool off. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Probably a problem with one of the actuators that mixes the drivers side and passenger side air, part of the dual zone stuff. Sounds like it is stuck on Passenger side. Dealer can fix it.

I had the problem described by the OP. AC performance slowly seemed to be getting worse and worse. Over the past week or so, the passenger side would sometimes blow cold, drivers side would never blow cold.

I took it in and it was determined that a "high side line o-ring leaking". It was repaired under warranty, vacuum tested, recharged and is working great again.

My car has a 09-2013 build date. It is certainly peculiar that an assembly or materials defect in the AC system took a full year to become a problem. ... in Texas. It cooled just fine through many 100+ degree days over the summer, many 90+ degree days last spring, and several 80+ degree days last winter. It passed their vacuum test and leak test. Hopefully it is fixed forever. If I have a leak that takes 12 months to empty the system, they'll never find it!

Maybe it had been working fine all along and loading the AC through the late August/September heat just finished off that pinched o-ring.

As an aside, the RDX has one of the best AC systems I have ever had.

I'm considering a 2016 RDX once the MMC is released. A/C cooling performance is one huge question I had. Glad to hear yours works well.

Aside from hearing the compressor cycle on and off, can you feel it when driving? Does it tend to bog down the engine somewhat when compressor is on?

Can any other RDX owners chime in as to whether or not you feel that the A/C has superior cooling performance?
Do you notice the engine bogging when the compressor kicks in?
Any other issues or problems?

I plan to purchase the '16 model now that the climate control vents are in the rear.....why they weren't there in the first place has me flabbergasted.

I'm coming from a '13 MDX that had the rear air into a '15 RDX that does not. The MDX benefitted from the rear venting since the flow out of the front vents wasn't great overall to the rear. yesterday was the first time I've had to use the RDX with A/C as the interior got really hot while sitting in a parking lot. I was actually pleasantly surprised how quickly the interior cooled - including the rear - and how much better the airflow was from the front to the rear, even without the middle venting like the MDX had. to me, the lack of the venting direct to the rear seats isn't a show-stopper given my observation.

I do not notice any draw of power when the A/C compressor comes on.
