Transmission Failure?
i was returning home from a weekend trip and pulled out to pass and got an abrupt downshift. it felt like it went fron 4th to 2nd. i babied it the rest of the way home but it happened 3 more times - not as severe. no check engine light....
detoured to riddle acura - 3 hours later and i am driving a TL loaner. they are replacing 2 solenoids and if that doesn't fix it - 8 to 10 days for a new transmission.
59,000 miles.... i am still very satisfied with the car and service.

changing the solenois does nothing .. the problem is internal .. the solenoids is just a way of them to delay the whole process and to give you the warm comfy feeling that they are doing something.
i suspect they are changing the fluid on it too without your knowledge to delay it longer. I'm finding that covert operations is how acura works .. what our owners don't know...they won't tell anyone else .. blahhh
