My buddies TL-P tranny died after about 22,000 mi.

I hope mine never dies, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. :P

Instead I lost $1200 for the 7yr/100k extended warranty.

I wish it cost that much for a Extended Warranty. The dealer here wants for a 6 yr 100k $1600!!!

Boy, that sounds high...

Mine was also a 7yr/100K warranty and wasn't that high...

Is there someone else you can get a quote from?

you guys actually plan on keeping your cars that long, 100k + doubt it, don't waste your money, dump the car for a new one when the factory warranty runs out

I planned on keeping this car 5 years. That was why I bought a Honda product. Dependable, reliable, durable.

And I bought mine last May and already have 23k on it.

I'll be out of my warranty in just over 2 years. (4year 50k mile IIRC). I didn't expect that to be an issue, because Honda products are dependable and you can go 100k+ without any major problems in just about any Honda.

Any except the car that is everything I wanted in a daily driver. The car I happened to buy. The 3.2CL TypeS with it's kamikaze transmission.

The TL-S has the same problem; mine's in the shop now. The dealer says the problem started in '99 TL, and that was before the 5spSS tranny.

Did they ever fix the problem? If so, when? I have a 2002 TL-S made in December 2001

Oh, they 'fixed' it by installing a remanufactured tranny that lasted 400 miles...I got rid of the car. Go to http://www.acura-tl.com to read about the 31 failures there.
