Tranny problem??

Could some of you guys with more knowledge than me or unfortunately have already gone through one (or more) trannies let me know what the signs to look for are? I was driving home tonight and at around 60mph I felt a hesitation or shudder or I'm not sure of the exact word to use here, perhaps downshift? I also felt it at 70mph and 45/50 mph. It seemed to happen when I let off the gas, but it was more than the usual feel if that makes any sense? I had to make a stop and after the stop the rest of the ride home was ok. Are these bad trannies a sometimes intermittent problem, at least when they first appear? I haven't even had my CL a month yet and love it so far, it's a blast to drive and gets quite a few looks going down the road. I hope I'm just paranoid after having heard about some issues with the trannies in these cars. Thanks for any info. Also, if this does sound like bad news, do I have to wait until it grenades on me, or will they fix/replace it once it shows sign of slippage or some kind of issue. I bought it certified and am under warranty until Nov 09. Thanks again.

Sorry for originally posting in the wrong forum, I'm still learning the site. I did some looking around, perhaps I should have done this before my first post, and I saw some posts from almost 2 years ago describing a very similiar if not exact "problem". They attributed my hesitation or downshift to a feature known as Gradient control. Does anyone else feel this? I guess I am still learning my car as well as this site, but today was the first time I've felt this Gradient control if this is what is going on. Why haven't I felt this for the past almost month? Once again, thanks for any ideas/info.

Well thanks for all the replies :-) I thought this site was cool and I was looking forward to participating but the lack (NONE) of replies makes me think again. I guess if I don't want to modify my car anything else is irrelevant.

For what its worth, when the past trannies began to go there was a violent downshift to 2nd on all of them.

When my transmission started to fail at 24k , I would get a jerk at 37mph when it was upshifting. This was very intermittent. It started a couple months before the failure. Sometimes it would occur once a week, sometimes every couple of days. When the transmission finally failed,it didn't want to upshift, and would jerk hard on each time .Fortunately,I drove it directly to the dealer before it failed completely.

FWIW, my 01 CL-S tranny died last week at just under 50K. The symptoms were hesitation to shift and ultimately it locked up and the engine rev'd but the wheels wouldn't turn. I had to have it towed to the dealer. New tranny was installed yesterday and so far all is well.
