Some people have had them fail at 12k miles, don't feel too bad. Expect the car to be gone for 1-2 weeks depending on the avaliablility of the tranny.

My 1st went at 14k so I consider 36k well aged.
Not much for advice, tell them the tranny is going. They'll replace it no questions asked.
There's a transmission section on this site. It will have lots of other people experience with the matter.

i just hope mine doesnt go like some people said on the highway, cause i am on the highway all the time.
going 780 in 5th gear and all of a sudden, it shoots u into 2nd, nearly causing a rear end accident. very scary.

isn't there anything they could check when you go in for regular service to see if your tranny is about to fail so they could catch it early?

50K miles and I'm on my third.
They replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the ECU too I think. I think I've felt it slip already too, hasn't even been a week.
I'm selling it in the fall. I've had enough, no more acuras for me>

The transmission continually shifts rough.
The dealer may replace just the fluid, replace some parts, or the whole tranny.
There is no crystal ball. At 56k, my tranny took 4 weeks before the tranny problems were constant.

update
It took acura 3 hours to finally say "ok the transmission needs to be replaced" no sh*t... They told me it could be ready as early as Friday...I am not holding my breath. Acura did set me up with a rental car but limited me to $30 a day for a car wich means I got to pay an extra $5 a day not to drive a POS neon. DON'T YOU THINK ACURA SHOULD JUST GIVE ME A ACURA LOANER? I hate dealing with this crap...I don't want to be a dick but i think i'm going to take the rental back and tell Acura I want a ACURA loaner and nothing else.

good luck .. acura's service really has gone in the toilet over this tranny issue .. they have a LONG way to go before they are back with the big boys (lexus/bmw/merc) .. as far as I'm concerned .. they will NEVER make it!
