Time for #3
just as i say my car is running strong, my transmission starts taking a shit on itself.
Random downshifts to 2nd, hesitation on upshifts... argh, i dont feel like uninstalling the N20, but I know what they are going to say if I dont.
This one last about 58K miles.
Time for #3, Damnit!

My 2001 Acura CL Type-S returned from the shop on Monday (18-April-2005) after having a "new" transmission installed. The car had about 50,000 miles on it. What is the longest mileage you've gotten from a transmission? After reading everything here...I'm more reluctant then ever to keep this car. The transmission died without giving any warning. I'm glad my wife wasn't driving it then.

1st Transmission died at 12K miles
2nd Transmission died at 70K miles
So I got 58K miles out of my second transmission.
PM Bulldog01, I think hes on his 4th or 5th transmission.
Then I know others who have hit 100K with no problems. Go figure.
Its hit or miss with these things.

this letter was sitting in the passenger seat when I got the car back.
The transmission that has been installed in your car has been redesigned and recalibrated for longer life.
Also the Power train Control module (PCM) that controls engine management and transmission shift points has been updated.
The fuel pressure regulator may have been replaced depending on the year and model of your car. The new regulator has been recalibrated to work with the PCM.
The changes that have been made will affect the way the transmission shifts. Most changes will be transparent to the user but you may notice some differences. Some of these differences will be minimized as the PCM maps your driving habits and tailors itself to your driving style.
The Acura division of American Honda has made these changes to insure the dependability of your transmission and to bolster your confidence in your Acura automobile for the years to come.
