For those who have 03 cls auto but not cover under trans settlement
Hi all,
I would like to know those who have 03 cls auto whose VIN is not covered under the transmission settlement, have you experienced any problems with your tranny? Does anyone know why are some of the 03 cls not covered? Is it implying our tranny is "free" of the problems 01, 02 and some other 03 are experiencing with their tranny?
Did most of you all purchase extended warranty? Is it worth it? From what I read so far, people start having tranny problem after 100k while the extended warranty only cover up to 100k or 7 yrs whichever comes first. Thanks.
Jeff

I have an 03 CL-S that is not covered under the transmission settlement. I had the light show on the dash happen with 78k miles on the car and they replaced the tranny under good faith. I honestly don't understand why some 03's are covered and why some aren't. I've wondered the same thing.

My 03 was Acura certified, which means the tranny is covered through 100K miles. My tranny went out at 62K (about 1.5 years ago), plus it started leaking tranny fluid at 82K (last month). The dealership replaced the entire tranny free of charge only because I bought my car certified. Otherwise, I would have been SOL.

At the time I thought mine was covered but recently I tried my VIN to see if I am covered and it said I'm not.
Now if it goes again who knows what they'll say, hopefully it wasn't a one time deal, because if my tranny does decide to give out on me again and they say not this time, then I'm going to have to try to track down a dealership that will do what they did for me the first time.

I also have a 03 that is not covered by the trans warranty. They say they fixed the problem in our year. But how come the other years get their transmission replaced and still have problems with their transmission? And hopefully the fix for our year will be good enough.
