Wow I don't think I've ever seen a thread like this before. inb4 flood of people come in to say the same thing that's been said hundreds of times before.
Anyways, I've had an auto trans for over 3 years and it hasn't crapped out on me yet. Some people have had good experiences with these transmissions. Like the guy before said, you should definitely strictly stick to a 3x3 schedule. A lot of people say every 2 years do a 3x3 and it should hold up well.

I wouldn't be afraid.
I have a 2001 CL-S with 133k miles and no problems with the tranny (oil jet kit was installed under recall).
I do a regular Honda tranny fluid change every 15k miles (not a 3x3, just drain and refill once).

I have the 2001 CL 3.2 Type S with 259k miles (!) and it still has the original transmission and runs like new. Change the fluids regularly (transmission every 2 years or so) and don't drive it hard immediately after start (give it 60 seconds to warm up and it will last a long time. Do not take it to no name places for fluid changes to avoid damage on the oil pan/plugs due to specific torque specs generally ignored by no-name fluid change shops.
CL is not a drag racer - it is a GT cruiser and that's how it likes to be driven. This is one of the best-engineered and most comfortable sport-suspension cars you will ever drive.

I wouldn't recommend buying any Acura or Honda products after the BS I just experienced with my 2001 CL Type S. 57,517 miles, last monday trans dies. No help from Acura, didn't care about low miles, and after spending $4k on a rebult trans last week, I am have nothing but problems with the replacement, all kind of check codes, now flashing D5 indicator, dealship doesn't know what to do. Save yourself the headache and buy a Camero, Challenger, or Mustang. All CL's & TL's 2001 to 2003, with an automatic transmission are a piece of junk. Try finding one with a stick.
