Oil Jet Recall Warranty issue

Lets say I dont ever do the recall with the oil jet, and then 2 years later the transmission dies. They see that I never did the recall, so would my tranny warranty be void?

That was the reason why I did it... but to be honest.. if I were to do it again, simply would simply state that I never received a letter to do the recall which is a fact.. To this date I havent received anything....

Back to the recall best of luck with it...

Interesting ..I never got a letter iether and after expieriencing tranny symptom's I called them and asked about recall ..this was over a month ago ..the dealership told me they knew of NO recall and I would have to have the letter.... Well .....I just couldn't wait because I was so very worried about my tranny and a possible lock-up as they had finally admitted tha a gear breaking would cuase a lock-up...AS IF I didn't KNOW THAT NOW~~~ anyway i went there personally and they obviously rmemebered me WELL ...........And so they looked up my car on computer and said ..oh ..wow there is a recall on your car ~~~! Excuse me but there were 3 ladie's in the same time i was ..all having recall's ..granted their car's were like 02/03 model TL's ..but to act as if there was no recall on my car????? When they were doing numerous ones daily and still are ...So IF you need to get the recall ..go there personally to have it done ! However...I did feel torn ..because many are having failure's after recall's as well as failure's on the NEW tranny's they are replacing ...to ummmm....replace the NEWLY installed tranny of the tranny that failed for the jet recall .! Who could believe this mess..or even keep it straight...

Anyway ..my car was already acting up a few times ...I do have to say though ,since the recall ....my car vibrates worse then it ever did and it had a major vibration problem ..... The car litrally feel's like it will fall apart ..I have no idea why ..but I really can't belive that it is all tranny related ....The car looks great though ...absolutely a nice looking car ,inside and out ...but driving it is scary as heck ....because of fear of tranny failure ....and just the major major vibration ....pluse lately it feel's like it's really taking everything it has to get going ...like the engine is being stressed is the only way to describe it ...I am by means no mechanic ,but there is something not right with the car.

I received the letter about 2 months ago. Just had the oil jet installed yesterday. since they inspected and found that the 2nd gear was still silver and showed no sign of wear. My dealership new about the recall and didn't require the letter for repair. It also only took 40min's. I had my second trans replaced earlier this summer about 6k miles ago.

Oil jet recall was done on my car in July. Have put 1500 miles on since and no problems. I'm still on my original tranny. 40500 miles on the car and not a hint of a problem, however for some strange reason this car keeps breaking rear sway bar end links.
Go figure, Guess something has to give.

Recall letter

I just purchased my 2001 cls and tranny went bad, they are now currently replacing my tranny free of charge since original purchaser of care got the extended warrenty. Its always a good thing to call acura at 1-800-382-2238 let them know you are the new owner of vehicle and they can also tell you from vin whats been done to your car( recalls).

The car doesn't drive any different now then it did before the oil jet kit. I don't see how it would. People were mostly complaining about the pcm change with the new trans. making the car slower. When I got the new trans and pcm I actually thought the shifts were alot more crisp and qiucker even. I haven't lost power do to either repair.

The replaced PCM reduced my CL-S performance, and I lost 2 -3 mpg. Oil jet kit does not appear to have changed anything. I do think it will contribute to an early failure on the rebuilt tranny, because of the reduced tranny fluid pressure flow and the resulting heat build up. My

did you verify it lost power by going to the track before and after in the same conditions? I had my tranny replaced about 8 months ago with a new pcm, and i didnt feel any power loss, just the shifts seemed faster and not as smooth (which i like)

I read somewhere in here that the letters are sent in stages because of the number of acrs affected. My dealer said they were doing 10 to 12 trannies a week.

I keep mileage records for my normal driving loop. The mpg has definitely gone down since PCM replacement. That is the only variable in the equation. I would be afraid to take my CL-S to a track. I don't think the trans would survive it, and I am not in a hurry to blow the rebuild and wait two weeks for the replacement :gheywave: .

The recall letter informs dealers they can not sell a vehicle if the recall has not been performed.

I don't know if we are required to have the recall done to maintain our transmission warranty. If we were required, I'd imagine the requirement would be stated it in the recall letter with a deadline to have the recall done by, or we'd recieve a 2nd letter after ignoring the first.

There is no mention of the transmission warranty in the recall letter.

The letter notifies the owner of a recall, explains the recall, and asks the owner to have the recall performed.

It does not explain what happens if you refuse to have the recall performed.

The letter also states dealers can not sell a car from their inventory unless they perform the recall on it.

You are not confusing. In fact what you are saying makes perfectly good sense to me. I'm confused about Honda's recalls and whether you have a warranty if you don't get the oil jet kit. Oh, by the way, I have gotten two letters: warranty extension and oil jet kit. I am on my second tranny / pcm, and I got the oil jet kit installed. I did not want to gamble on getting another 5AT.

Understood.

I'm on my second, no oil jet kit. I'll probably get the kit done before I turn 15k on the new tranny. Less work for the dealer.

I don't think the oil jet kit is required to keep the extended warranty. The oil jet kit is a safety recall. What will void the warranty is probalby laid out in fine print in the owners manual. I don't think recalls or TSBs can affect the warranty.

new tranny installed

OK, new rebuild updated tranny installed and ecu. Seems to rev more between gear shifts.
Not quite as snappy as before but shifts are more crisp. Rather have the old rpm shifts

we just did the ATF oil tube recall on my girlfriend's 2001 CL. she bought it new in Jun 2001. the tranny died Jan 2004 at 25K miles. just installed the oil tube Oct 2004 at 34K miles. it better not go now. my toyota truck auto has 255K on it, so it can be done.

We just had the oil jet kit on our 01 CL-S. Tranny inspection was "OK" and we have 47,000 miles. No change felt--let's hope this tranny holds out.
