Help, my car is smoking!

hey guys, i'm a noob and need some help. i have a '01 silver cl-s. i was driving down the highway and the 'check engine' light came on and then 2 seconds later the vsa light came on and would not shut off. i go to change lanes so i can pull over and i notice a ton of smoke coming out of the back of my car. i sat on the side of the highway for a second and some smoke was still coming from under the car. i turned the car off and the smoke stopped. has anyone had this happen to them before and what did you do about it? what should i do? any help would be appreciated guys.

okay in all seriousness... What color was the smoke?.. blueish white or a dark black cloud?

from what i grasp, it is either anitfreeze or oil leaking onto the hot exhaust... could be a simple blown hose or something major like a head gasket.... I I can not see the car.

GET it towed.

ok, guys, i just heard back from the honda dealership i had it towed to (no close acura dealers)it and they said that it was smoking because the transmission fluid was too full by two quarts. but the guy said that he got a transmission code back when he did a diagnostic and says that something is probably wrong internally with the transmission. so this leads me to my next quesiton i guess. i bought this car used with basically 88,000 miles on it. it didnt come with a warranty. if its the transmission is there anyway that this would fall under the tranny re-call?

off to the tranny section...

yes sir, you have warranty on the tranny till 100K from my understanding... but I do not own an AUTO so I could be full of hot air.

about ohh 2 weeks ago, I started to notice a burning oil smell. I checked the oil level, and it seemed a bit low. How low? I don't know. I thought it would be a good idea to dump 2 quarts in there. *probably a mistake* Everything was going fine until last Friday.

I was out 'driving spiritively' and when I pulled up to a friends house, he noticed my car was huffing white smoke from the engine bay. Lifted the hood to see smoke rising up. I couldn't determine where it was coming from. I hope it was a matter of me putting in too much oil in a few weeks ago.

I'm taking it to the dealer in the morning for an oil change. Hopefully they will tell me its an easy fix.

I would guess maybe (1) frothy oil overheat situation or (2) a seal leak? (I don't know which would be better..)

Good guess dead-fox. By visual inspection they thought it might be a seal leak. They said to replace the $40.00 seal, the transmission would need to be removed. This costs a minimum of $600-$700. They wouldn't know exactly if this was the issue until they removed the transmission though.

They essentially blamed the N20 and wouldn't warranty it. Though I'm out of the normal warranty period @ 62K mi., I do have an extended warranty. I don't know if I could get it covered under that. This suxxx.
