Getting a new tranny

I recently took my car for an inspection and i was told that my second gear was discolored so they ordered me a new tranny. Do they offer a warranty for the new tranny? to these tend to fail? i have seen guys on the forum saying they have been through at least 3 tranny's

If you run search on this, you'll find that several people have had tranny issues and yeah, some multiples times. Actually, just a quick browse may even reveal a lot. There's quite a bit of info about it in all honesty. Somewhere, (not sure where exactly) there is a thread that will tell you exactly what is wrong with our tranny's.

You're new tranny will still be covered till at least 100K but I'm not sure after that. Might be something to ask the dealer about when you take it in. I know a few members here have gotten their's replaced (under warranty) after the 100K warranty was up too.''

Good luck!

And by the way, if you're under 100K, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

As in, 7/100k from the day they put the new one in? If so, that's great news!

Glad to hear it went well.

Oh. So you're saying when the car hits 100K that's it? That's ok. I've heard of several members getting theirs replaced as woodwill AFTER they've hit 100K. No worries I guess.

You never know... Some members have had more than one replacement.

It's at a stand still since the other night I think. Other than Stawoo, I don't think anyone else has chimed in with their

The weather is so unpredictable, so I'm thinking just a simple meet would be best until spring or summer.

i just recently noticed i am starting to have slippage through the tranny and it only has like a 100 miles on it dammit. Are these prone to fail all the time.

Hi guys! Welcome to the Acura Tranny Nightmare! Yes, there is a looooong post on what is wrong with the CL/TL trannies. You can also read my long post about the story on my 01 CL. I'm on my 3rd replacement (4 in all) yay!
Your car will be covered up to 100k or 7yrs, but the REPLACEMENT is ONLY good 1yr or 12k AFTER you reach 100k on your car, yipee!
If you feel like your new tranny is slipping, take it back immediately! My 3rd one was a piece of crap and started slipping the first day! I'm now on my 4th and I don't like it at all, its not as smooth as the older version, but it works. I had 122k when i got the 4th one and they wanted me to $3,800 for it, until i had a little chat with the service manager and told them i didn't feel i should pay for something that Acura admitted to having a "design flaw". The new one seems ok, for now. But I certainly don't think it will last long. Also, no attorney will take my case because I have too many miles on it, even though my car is in perfect condition! It's a pretty F'd up situation. I love my car but the trannies suck, and that is serious shit!
So, don't let them bully you into paying for their fucked up transmission and make sure you get ALL your servicing done at your dealership! That's the only advice I can give besides trying to find a good lawyer! (if i sound bitter, i am)
sorry to break the bad news to you.....i don't know if these "rebuilt" trannies will ever be that great or last very long, only time will tell.
good luck!
