Do accords have the same problems?

I was looking at getting a used car. After hearing the nightmares about the CL tranny I am not going that route. I was wondering if accord s from that same time span have similar tranny problems?

Yes. I was going through my brother's glove box yesterday on his 01 accord v6 and found a notice of transmission warranty extension. It says "due to increased tranny failures, we've extended the warranty to 7 year 100,000 mile" which is the same warranty the CL/TL has. My view is, just get it and deal with it, and if it comes close to warranty time coming and you don't want the risk, then ditch the car. If not, then get a V/R tranny rebuild with the upgraded clutch packs. That's where these trannys have a tendency to fail and reinforcing them should make them pretty reliable from what I've read.

yes. the honda's have the same premature transmission melt-downs as the acuras. they're different transmissions, but the same results. if you're considering any american honda product for qulaity and reliability DON'T buy an auto. manual only if you want a reliable car.
