Couldn't get out of 2nd gear...uh-oh!

I merged onto the highway today using SS and it wouldn't let me shift up to 3rd. I moved the shifter over to D5 and nothing happened - still in 2nd. I shifted into Neutral and then back to D5 - it shifted finally. The rest of the ride home it worked perfectly. SS worked as well. I'm guessing I may need to have my tranny looked at soon... Maybe the HBP isn't such a great idea afterall. Oh well, you only live once I guess.

i've had the same problem from time to time w/ both trannys and ecu's that i've had.

it's not a sign of an immediate problem, imo.

enough to piss you off though, especially if it costs you a kill.

Glad to hear it's "normal". The car seems to run fine and I've never encountered this problem prior. Maybe it's just the tranny saying "hello" to remind me to take it easy now and then.

The "missing" 3rd gear symptom was what netted me tranny #2. Getting on the freeway, there was no 3rd gear. It finally caught but by then I was on the way to the dealer. Voila ... tranny #2 at 48K miles. Hopefully yours is okay.

I guess I should feel fortunate that Tranny#1 has lasted 68k miles...
