Downshift,...warning?

Wondered if those that have experienced the 5-2 downshift had any warning - transmission behaving strangely, lights blinking that you noticed before the event, and if so, how close? Thanks.

Any Warning of Imminent Dangerous Downshift?

Have there been any indicators of the catastrophic failure of the transmission, leading to the dreaded sudden downshift at speed? Lights blinking, slippage beforehand?
And how long before the event did this occur. (Sorry for the similar posting but i think this is important enough to get input from anyone who has had the misfortune of
experiencing this......and wasn't it the reason for the warrantee extention?

On all of my failures (5 of them) i noticed the trans failure 2-3k before hand. Right before it down shifted i noticed the revs slowly climbing up (like a slipping clutch)

Appreciate that response. It condirms what my Master transmission rebuilder had advised me.... in short that the "sudden downshift" would give prior warning that something was wrong before catastrophic failure.

My one and only so far was without warning. Going about 70. I let off the gas to just cruise to the exit. Car just jerked forward real hard and I look down, I was going 50. No blinking lights, nothing before or after. Good thing my dealer was about a mile away.

Mine just went out and while cruising about 70 the rpms would go from about 2k and slowly climb to about 5-6k and then WAM! it'd slam into 2nd or whatever gear it goes into. There would be sound like the tires chirped when it'd shift geard but I don't know how tires chirp going from 5th-2nd (70mph- ~40mph in a heart beat!) possibly the tires locking up like I slammed on the brakes.

thanks! good to know. now when i see it climb, ill pull off, hit the brakes, or shift into neutral. to do something instead of just taking the risk of a rear end accident.

Shit man if you have GAP insurance I'd do it on purpose (maybe, I don't think I have the balls!) in front of a big ass semi so you know it'll get totalled.....I've seen a bunch on 6spds on trader online out in CA for around $14-17ish some modified some not.
