Well people,you can add me to the list of people with a bad trans.Driving home friday from work,my D5 light starts to flash and the car would not shift into 5th gear.I could only do 40 mph,and the car was screaming.It's going into Brunswick Acura today.24,000 miles and the trans is shot.I'll keep you guys posted

I was not abusive when driving the car.No warning signs at all.The car was fine on Thursday.Has anyone had any problems after getting their trans replaced?

 

I just got off the phone with the dealer.They should be getting in the new trans tomorrow or Friday.I should have the car back sometime next week.

 

Would you mind "expanding" on just what happened before and during the failure...


Did you get funny shifting in 2nd and 3rd before the D5 problem?

When you mean that you were driving 40 MPH and the car was "screaming", do you mean to say that the car's tach was in the "upper range" and that it was exhibiting "flare" (AKA slipping).

You would know the feeling (of slipping/flare) as putting you foot on the gas and just seeing the tach go to the ceiling, yet the car would barely speed up...

 

I had no funny shifting at all.It just went on me.I'll keep you posted.

Yes,that is what I meant,the car was reving really high.

 

I am back on the road.I picked the car up last night from Brunswick Acura.Everything is cool now.They did another trans for someone else while my car was in.I'll keep everyone posted
