Another CL Driver with Tranny Failure
I was driving home from the dealer today after having my 30K mile service and the car lost power and seemed like it was in neutral. The VSA light and check engine light came on and the D5 light started flashing. When I stopped I couldn't get the car in reverse. My car was towed back to the dealer and they will keep it for 5 or 6 days while a new tranny is installed. The service rep said that he has seen 8 failed CL transmissions. I can now officially join the failed CL tranny club

Did you tranny give you any signs since you have had it... or this was just out of the blue.
Did the dealer give you any problems? Did they give you a loaner car?

The tranny gave me no signs before it quit, except that 10 mins. before it quit the engine revved really high twice on the freeway. So, basically this was totally out of the blue. The dealer gave me the phone number of a towing company and they billed the dealer directly for the tow. The dealer basically told me that it was the tranny that was bad before even looking at the car and that it would be fixed under the extended tranny warranty. They gave me a TL loaner with 18K miles on it. Nice car, but I would prefer to have my CLS back!
