After 74,000 miles......
My transmission is being replaced ! Also the SRS sensor needs to be replaced for $348.00 not under warranty ! FooK ! Rear brakes are gone. Brought both MDX and CL in so we have two loaners...a 2003 TL and 2004 TSX. It will take a week for them to order and replace the transmission in the CL !
Total so far:
CL: $348.50 for SRS sensor
$48.00 for balancing wheels
$225.00 for rear brakes
MDX: 7500 service: $189.95
I guess this is as good as it get's.....
Happy motoring !

SHIT! I took comfort in the fact that early CLs seemed to be immune to the tranny problems, and this is your first replacement right? That really sucks, sorry about your misfortune.....

Well it did hold out for 74k miles, not a bad run. Better now then once you’re over 100k. Even though this crap shouldn't be happening at all.
Will your CL make it to 100k with you at the helm?

SRS issue: The "SRS" light is supposed to be due to this part going out.....Sound like smoke to me. If I hadn't replaced it, then the SRS light would remain on and not functional to the passenger (Air bag deployment) ! I don't have much of a choice. I was stoned walled as I thought it was just needing to be "RESET". That was not the case ! Anyone else have this issue ?
Transmission:
Everyone know's that I'm the 187th off the production line. I thought I made it threw this crap too ! I NEVER abused this car either. So I guess it's just a "matter of time" before they all fail. Will I keep it past 100K, probably so, as it is paid for and I'm not up to a car payment these days. It's kind of Dejavu because some of you remember my 1998 Accord Coupe Tranmission died at 78,000 miles of granny driving ! It just goes to show you how poor the run of transmissions from 1998 to 2002 with HONDA OF AMERICA are very questionable. Let's hope they have addressed the poorly designed V6 Transmissions. This goes for the Accord, Oddessy, CL, TL and MDX.
TypeS: Yes this is my first and hopefully last !

I have an early one too...and my trans lasted til 50K!!
Also...there's no such thing as an SRS sensor...prolly got confused w/ OPDS sensor or unit. And if so then it's a fairly common part to go defective. Also...w/ the SRS light on and a code stored in the SRS control unit, the WHOLE SRS system becomes in-active...ALL airbags. As for the trans...nothin can prevent the wrath of the honda trans...the will ALL die!!

Do you have the 01 or 02 CL ? If so, that's amazing you got 149, 000 mile of trouble free transmission. I babied mine and it still fooked out. Probably the start and stop traffic when I drove it everyday to the office. High way miles are best for the shitty designed transmissions. Start and stop traffice kills them !
