Yokohama AVID V4S (pics & review)
Brand: Yokohama
Model: Avid V4S
Size: 215/50/17 93v 500 AA A
Price: $104 a piece
Category: High Performance All-Season
Miles on tires: ~ 500
Dry Handeling: Very good cornering, very crisp. Feels like they are planted on the ground, overall sense of controll when pushed to the limit. But these are not summer tires so they do give out compared to dedicated summer tires! They do not squel around turns and take off wheel spin is at a minimum. Overall performance in the dry is very good!
Wet Handeling: During heavy rain that I have notice, the car does slide for a sec but does regain control again. Traction from a stand still depending on how wet the road is, the tires do spin but gain control once throtle is released. I have not experienced any hydroplanning at all. Overall performance in the wet is good.
Noise: The tires are very quiet. Perfect tire for highway use. Very smooth!!
Looks: Very nice tread pattern. Sidewall design is simple yet has character. Looks great with a little tire shine.
Snow: Considering this is a M+S tire, it would have to be decent. So I have not experienced these yet in snow.
Overall: I like them!! But I will continue to drive on them and rack more miles to further see if these really are what they are meant to be!!
Other choices: Continental Contiextreme Contact, Falkin Ziek 512, Pirrelli P Zero Nero, Sumotomo HTR+.

i have those same tires on my 3.o and i would have ot agree with you about the wet. if u jump on it they will spin form a stop but once your off the gas they gain control. i had mine put on mid winter, busted a rim and two tires on one pot hole. they grip in snow really good and not once did i feal like i lost traction. they are a very good all season performance tire.

Above n Beyond
Good review. Just about everything I would say. I have them on my 03 CL-S. They do slide a little on the RR tracks in the rain, but on drive roads they are great. I havent noticed any loss of traction off the line, but then again I'm not heavy throttle off the line much anyway.
with my recent lowering springs and these tires, I have tested the car on entry and exit ramps. I havent noticed any tire squealing either from around 50-60mph.

i've had these for about 2000 miles now. I think your review is pretty spot on. I think my last set of tires (Sumitomo HTR+s) had way better traction but they were loud as hell. The sidewall is soft as hell on these. I can feel them flex if I take a corner hard. I love them though. The ride quality is amazing and the noise levels are fantastic. I am willing to trade some performance (just a tad!) for the ride quality and comfort of these tires.

a little dissapointed with the snow performance. They weren't that great. Lost traction pretty easily. The Sumitomo's were definately better in this department.

Tire Not Recommended
I have an 2003 Acura CL Type S with the exact same Yokohama Avid V4S. I drive my car hard and fast, including a very twisty canyon. These tires did not hold up to my driving style in this car. I have put less than 13,000 miles on them and I have already lost the side wall treads on all four, and I am nearlly down to the wear mark signalling I need new tires. They scream whenever I turn corners faster than 5 MPH and they screech on crosswalk paint. They are still comfortable on the freeway, but I dont trust them on my road to work (4-5 miles of swtichbacks without straight aways). With the treads almost gone, I dont even trust them in the rain. I have to drive very carefully. At first they were great tires, but now, I need to get rid of them ( I just posted a request for advice and recommendations). Avoid these tires - they wont last long if you drive this car like it is meant to be driven.
