Wheel information.

I know there have been some posts on this, but couldn't find what I'm looking for. I have a lowered CLS, about 2" and want to know what offset I need to keep from rubbing. I'm probably going to stay with 17" with 225/45 pr 225/50's. I bought a set of FOOSE lusso's, totally hot, but with a offset of 38, would rub badly. Thanks.

It all depends, but some say at least +45.

Thanks for that. What are the stock 2003 CLS wheel offset? Mine rubbed a little on turns.

225/50 is overkill, it'll make the wheels look puny.

17" with a 48mm and up offset would be optimal to run 235/45/17 which is the best tire size to use.

Ran 17X8's with that tire size & didn't once rub. Even on NYC streets & weight in the car.

Stock rims are +55 offset. If you rubbed a little with stockies, then you'll need something over 50 offset i would think. You could always roll your fenders to get a little extra clearance. If you have the new rims already, just put one on and see if you could make it work.

My stock ones when I measured the way I found online came out to be ~50mm. The wheels that I bought (FOOSE Lusso chrome) seemed to have the same measurements, but the mounting plate was thicker and it pushed the rim out an inch closer to the fender. Without a tire it was just bearely inside the fender. That is why I got confused. The measurement was all from teh mount plate to the back of the rim, but it is the front of the rim that matters to me!!!

The further back (toward the back of the rim) that the mounting plate is, the lower the offset. My car isn't that low, so some other members would probably have a better idea than me, but if you ran 225 tires and rolled your fenders, i think you would be okay. It all depends on how bad you want the rims on (more $ to get them on). This site might be helpful:
