Ant, I've run Comptech Springs and Tokico HP Blue's (non adjustable ones) since the car was 8K miles old, and now has almost 25K

As far as dropping the car more, I'm not sure, because I never ran the Comptechs without them. But I don't think you'll get too much more of a drop with the HP's that I have. You would probably get a little more with the 5 way adjustable Illumina's, but I have no proof of that.

You will like the HP's, although I dont know exactly how stiff you want it. If your looking for hardcore performance, I would go with the adjustable Illumina's. For what I do, the HP's are fine, although SOMETIMES when I'm cornering hard I do wish they were a little stiffer. Thought about going to Koni's sometimes, but eh .. not spending the 600 right now.

Ride quality with the HP's are very good. Stiff enough for hard cornering, but if you get too crazy they might be a little soft. Ride over bumps is not too harsh, Comptech + HP's a great setup if your roads suck and you still want to maintain alot of the stock ride qualities.

Strut quality is fine; in 17K miles I've never had a single problem with any of my suspension.

I bought my shocks from www.shox.com for 299 for the set, and needed them shipped 2day because I only decided to do them 3 days before my spring appointment, so I paid alot for shipping .. but I've heard from many people that you can get them on ebay for 279\set.

Theres some pics to give you an idea of the look. Hope this all helps

dont have any pics but im running the illuminas/comptech

imho i think they all look the same but im getting tired of the rake look

the rear looks as if its not even dropped!

but i paid about 350 for the illuminas used and ive used them for about 25k miles still no problems. car performs well and looks a lot better than stock!

i say this all the time, if i did it all over again i would go with the TEINs and spend a little bit more...

oh yeah as far as ride quality

ive never driven them on the softest setting. i have the fronts on 2 and the rears are 3.

definetely a bit stiffer than stock. the comptech sways really make the ride change dramatically. if you are on a rough road you will feel like the cl-s might break in half!

i dont have enough experiences with other shocks/struts but im not having any problems with the illuminas...

That would be me. Check out the link below. They are pics from the day of the install.

I will try and post some more recent pics tomorrow. As for the ride, I love it. The car seems a bit lower with the tokico's blues vs. stock shocks (at least from the pics i have seen and the other cars i have seen in person). It also appears to have less of the 'raked' look, in my opinion. Ride quality is good, I drive on rough roads in manhattan and queens and its bearable. I have only had the setup for about 5k miles so i cant speak to the life of the shocks and if they get bouncy with age. Let me know if you have any other questions.

dont expect the settling to be anything you'll notice. I noticed none whatsoever, and it cant be much because Jens at PAA advised me to do the alignment that day. he wouldnt have told me to do it if he thought the springs would've settled and been out of alignment again afterwards. I think he said it ends up being less than an 1\8th of an inch.

Hey sorry for the delay, been kinda busy and the weather here has been a little messy. Added some recent pics to the album (pics 7-11 are after settling), as you will see the rear appears to have settled a bit more than the front did. Does not really have the raked look of Comptechs that most of the folks on the forum complain about, probably due to the Tokico's. I can barely get 2 fingers in the front and just a tad more than 2 fingers in the rear. Keep in mind that I did go with a 45 profile tire due to the lovely roads we have here. That reduces the wheel gap a bit. I have no rubbing/fitment issues. I am however having a problem where when I hit a large bump the rear shocks seem to bottom out and make a clank sound. Some folks on the site mentioned that I may be missing something called a bump stop on the struts, I will have the installer look at it this week. Other than that the car rides great, let me know if you have any other questions and what you end up doing.

Enjoy
