Tire/Wheel Combo Suggestions

Tire/Wheel Combo Suggestions
Ok...my first post as an "owner." Just got an ABP 03 CLS 6spd. Want to replace the stock wheel/tire combo...but I'm not a real flashy person. Want a rim that is understated and classy (like the rest of the car). I tend to like the grey color rims (not super shiny like in a rap video). Also, for tires, want more of a perfomance tire than stock, but also something that won't spin off the road in the rain. Will probably keep the stock combo for winter.
I've been fooling around on the TireRack configurator, but wanted to know what you all thought.
Also, I assume someone has a K&N filter in their car, does it make a difference?
Thanks
Josh

Congrats on the purchase !! ![Woot](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/woot.gif)
I just put in the K&N drop in filter, and I thought it made a difference but I got used to it in a day or so, so who knows![Dunno](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
I got it just for the fact that it'll be the last air filter I have to buy for the car.
AJUSA.com has free shipping on the k&n and had a decent price too...

Toyo T1S or T1R(new 06 model) are summer performance tires. I had 4 sets of T1S's & love them.
For rims anything goes. You need to find something you like. Be aware of this though:
17X7 is stock
Bolt pattern is 114X5 ot 5X4.5
You can fit 17X7.5, 17X8, 18X7 18X7.5 & 18X8 rims.
A +42mm offset is the lowest you can go on the rims, & they won't rub if you don't lower it, & will if you do.
235-45-17 fit fine as well as 235-40-18, & your speedo will be accurate.
Try to find rims that are +48mm offset or higher for a good fit.

I'd second this, I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and after 45k miles they show little to no where on them at all. If you don't need an A/S tire then the Pilot Sport should be just as good.
I have a KN filter only for improved gas mileage, no other performance difference that I noticed.

Welcome, I have the same car as you except mine is silver. I highly recommend that you apply the money spent for the drop in air filter toward a Comptech Icebox. Some people also like the AEM, but I wanted to maintain a stock look.
It is a fairly straightforward installation as well.

Why not Ron Jon wheels, like the silver servo's? For tires, either Toyo or Falken. I prefer Sumitomo (what I use), but the thread life sucks, but they are very sticky and score the highest on rain tests...

I run the BFG Gforce KDW2's and I love them. It has that chunky tread design. I've run on toyo t1s, nitto nt555's and now the bfg's. The bfg's are by the best tire of the 3 in my opinion. If $ isn't an issue, i agree the pzero nero's and the pilots are the best tires on the market hands down.
