Exclamation Tire Reviews, Ratings, Comments

Do you have feedback on tires you bought? Share them here.

Please follow the outline below and post only tire reviews.

Tire Make/Model: Falken Ziex ZE-512
Size: 225/45/17

Review: I bought these tires for my winter setup. I didn't need snow tires since my car probably sees heavy snow covered roads maybe 2-4 times each winter season and I much rather preferred something that would perform well on dry and wet asphalt. So far going on almost 3k miles and I love these tires. I've driven in mild snow conditions and they've worked flawlessly. I've also driven in rain and there are no complaints there. Overall the tire is comfortable and quiet and has met all my expectations. Even though the pavement has been cold, at WOT they do really well with minimal loss in traction. I can't say much for cornering performance since I haven't done much of it in these cold conditions but the few encounters that I've had I feel confident in the handling. Unfortunately I'll be selling these wheels/tires soon to cover the cost of my summer wheel/tire setup but you can bet that I'll be going with the ZE-512 once again at the end of the year for my stock wheels.

Tire Make/Model: Michelin Pilot HX MXM4
Size: 215/50/17

Review: Stock garbage. Over priced under performing tire. NEVER purchase these again. Worst tire i have ever used.
Getting Yokohoma V4S if i go all season, or Khumo Ecsta SPT/BF Goodrich G-Force Sport for summer. I am looking for reviews of the summer options if anyone has input.

Tire Make/Model: Continental Premier Contact
Size: 205/60/16

Review: These are on my winter wheels. Good wet dry grip compared to stockers. Good treadwear but soft sidewall flex. They are not impressive in snow. These tires flatspot pretty bad. They are also very loud, esp over cement sections of road. Would not buy again.

Tire Make/Model: Yokohama Parada A-Spec 2 225/40/18
Review: Quiet, gripped well, didn't last very long. Over time, very noisy tires.

Tire Make/Model: Michelin Pilot Sport II 235/35/19
Review: Best tires out on the market. Loved them. Zero complaints. Had them for about 15-17000 miles. Then got a second set for about 3000 miles.

Tire Make/Model: Good Year F1 GS-D3 235/35/19
Review: Great tire. Good traction. Good tire all-around. Only had them for 2000 or so miles.

Tire Make/Model: BFGoodrich KDW2 235/35/19
Review: Had them for about 5-6 months. Not bad of a tire. Definately not on par with the Michelin PS2s. But I got them for a good price, so they're good bang for the buck.

Review:These are great tires. I only tested them in the summer but these grip like no other. the tread is pretty damn sexy looking too. I took my car up angela's crest and GMR and not much screeching unless i really rip through the turns. on a launch they do pretty well. in wet, they do their job, i wouldn't exactly take turns during the wet seasons anyways, but these handle pretty well in wet also.

What made me write a review on this is because of an incident that happened last night. I was on the 10 freeway, traveling 75-80 (normal) on the right lane awaiting my exit. it'll be the second exit so i'm just cruising. this black 7 series (huge sedan) lane changes into my lane. no signal, whatever. so we're just cruising at the same speed since his car is pretty large i can't see anything infront of my lane, then he signals to the left lane again. i'm thinking to myself, why can't u do that earlier. he cuts off a 6th gen accord. and holly shit there's a car going 35mph! (if you guys watched disturbia, same thing happened). so i slam hard on the brakes. it chirps and just stops... no screeching no wheel hop. just bam slow. i don't have any brake mods either. i was very surprised. it stopped with about 2 car lengths of space... thank you tires... and cl shitty brakes.

Only thing I have to complain about is noise, it gets noisy over time.

overall: 9/10

TIRE MAKE/MODEL: Toyo Proxes 4
SIZE: 235/40ZR18

REVIEW: Has been a better than expected tire. Handles great , fairly decent wet weather traction as long as speeds are kept under sixty-five. What I love most about these tires are how quiet the ride is. Just as quiet as the oem size goodyears that came with the car. They provide a pretty smooth ride too for what they are. Emergency handling is great as well, tires hold hard The only downside to the tire in my opinion is the tread desigin. I look back and sometimes wish I would of picked up something similar but with a more aggresive tread pattern. Otherwise these are awsome tires and I would recommend them for all season use unless you live in an area that sees a lot of ice and shit over the winter.

TIRE MAKE MODEL: Wanli S-1088
SIZE: 225/40-18

Review: Good wet and dry traction. unknown miles on tires but ive been using them for about 7k miles. only complaint is their LOUD! lots of road noise at all speeds and also during braking. also could be better at protecting my rims. treadwear is rated at 280. looking to try something with better tread wear. dont really care for the speed rating or traction. maybe kumho or nanking tires.

Kuhmo Ecsta SPT
235/40-18

Very good traction in the dry and the wet. I have no intention of ever trying them in the snow. Essentially, replacing the stock set up with this has made it so I can floor the gas in 1st and 2nd with out breaking the tires free. At $125 a piece, I couldn't find a better tire out there that was worth the extra cost.

+1 (except: 225/45/18)

Tires are directional - so your rotation options will be limited to front-->rear // rear-->front. I don't consider that a problem, but it's different than the criss/cross rotation of non-directional tires (FYI).

Wet traction is suprisingly good. I got mine for $106 - so even if I throw them away at 20K miles they are competitive in price. I only have about 4K on them, so I can't estimate the tread life at this point.

Same (stock size)

Great tires soo far
Soft ride compared to my last set of yokohama's, but not as responsive in the turns.
Tread pattern doesn't' look the part of a performance tire
Tread wear soo far seems to be good, I only have maybe 8K miles soo far

TIRE MAKE MODEL: Yokohama ES100
SIZE: 215/50-17

Awesome grip when new, but will spin with no effort after 1/2 life
Only lasted 15K miles till almost bald
Stiff sidewalls helped the tire corner like crazy, but also gave a rough ride and the tires were noisy.
Aggressive tread design was a plus for me

Review:
Good tire, handles well. But not very good in the rain, so I am worried about the snow.

What is a good tire for the Midwest. We sometimes get pretty big snow storms and I doubt my Proxies will be good in the snow. I was thinking about Goodyear F1's. I want something with good performance but can handle the snow (2-5 times a year).

Tire Make/ Model:BFG G Force Sport.
Size: 225/40/18

Review: Long lasting tire, 60k plus and still not to wear bars. Decent wet/dry handling. low road noise, even after wear.
Dry handling: 7/10
Wet handling: 6/10

Tire Make/Model: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Size: 225/45/17

Review: Excellent all around tire.
Dry handling: 8/10
Wet Handling: 7/10

These tires are exellent tires. They last forever. I have them on my stock wheels. They have 65k miles and still have half tread. Low road noise, long life, good traction in every condition that i have driven in.
I have never driven in snow though so i can't tell you how they work in that.

Tire Make/Model: General Exclaim UHP
Size: 225/35/19 235/35/19

Review: Bought these tires for a few reasons. Pricing is super low, softer sidewalls, and performance. I just came from summer tires (Yokahama Parada Spec-2, see review in this thread... when it became 20% thread, grip was slightly less, more road noise, and rougher ride). Ride quality of my previous Yokahamas made me get something more comfortable since I'm not tracking my car, but these tires are still considered "Extreme Performance" on TireRack (ranked 2 in its class). I have been able to push them from time to time on ramps and they grip well. Comfort level is great for 19" for high performance tires. These tires can stretch (for wide rims) for those who are interested in that. Wet performance is great, dry is awesome. No complaints on these tires, no regrets on buy them. I put 2,000 miles on them so far. I would recommend these tires.
