Tire Hieght

hey guys I am trying to buy some used winter tires and I am struggling to find an answer to this question. Anyways....

2002 Acura cl w/ 17 inch 4th gen TL rims.

I have been looking at 235's and 225's

What is that max height I can have using these rims without tearing things apart lol?

I am finding a lot of 235/60/17..... I am assuming that is way to tall. So can I get away with 55's? 50's? 45'?........

Thank you all!

you have the 4G rim bolted up to your car right now?
because they have different lug nut patterns.

unless you took the proper precautions to make them fit, just disregard

Or you have 07/08 type s rims and that means you have 3rd gen wheels actually .

If you are running these in the winter and you have to deal with snow, you should stick with the stock size tire so it slices through the snow easier. 215/50-17

Stay with stock size for max tire height. You'll want to keep the speedometer/odometer as accurate as possible.

hey sorry all for the miss information. Your right it is 3g TL rims. hmm 215's huh? Yes I am dealing with snow here and thats what im gearing these for. Only reason I would like to stay with a wider tire is there is some tire on the sides.

235/45 is stock TL tire size...same height as 215/50...or to save a couple bucks and still be close you could go 225/45

I have an 03 cls 6spd with hankook I pike's size 225/55/17. That's one size taller on the sidewall, and wider. Was very worried they wouldn't fit, they are almost two inches taller than stock, and slightly wider. But I could mount them for free, so I tried them.. No issues whatsoever, no rub, ever. they do rub the frozen slush in the wheel wells more though lol. Yes obviously my speedo is prob like 10% off now. Big deal, its a poor mans 1 inch lift for the winter months! I will put some Pics of my car up on here someday, its been below zero for a couple days now, damn winter lol
