Strut replacement

Turns out the clunking from my front passenger tire is a strut that went bad. Have one on order, but the dealer didn't recommend replacing the other side. Strikes me as odd and I even asked, but htey said no need. Why would one strut go bad and not the other? Is the other one probably a few thousand miles away from joining the other team and fighting against me?!

I'm going to try "good will" warranty replacement, as I'm only about a year out of waranty and just at 50K miles. My argument is that this same dealer looked over the car a week before it went out warranty and deemed it "good to go." 100% replacement coverage would be great, but I'd be happy with anything and I honestly think I have a shot. If I get enough compensation, I wonder if I funnel it into the other strut?!

Opinions?

Might be time to just get a set of lowering springs and koni yellows

I'm still stock, but when I need the stock stuff replaced, I'm definitely going to go with an "upgrade".

Never replace one strut! Balance the set. OK to do fronts or rears, but you're talking about the wheels that steer the car.

Good luck with the good will; my success with that has been zero, and I have a really good dealership.

They have given me parts at cost, though.

If you have to pay for the replacement you should up grade to something better than stock. Would probably be cheaper too

When I need to do replacements, it'll probably be the H&R's and Koni Yellows... Might as well lower it too while they're in there. Labor costs would be the same anyways.

Long live good will from the dealer / manufacturer! Dealer is picking it up on good will.

Mission accomplished.

Two OEM front struts installed and problem resolved. Now I don't have to go so slow over small bumps and avoid certain road imperfections! Back to an overall nice ride. Never know how bad it is until it's fixed!

Do you have CT springs with stock shocks or everything is stock on the suspension. Because this happen to me about 11 months after installing stock shocks with CT springs.
