www.c-c-c.net

That site is run by a moderator of this site. He has good prices and great customer support.

You won't need to change the struts if you don't want to. Although, it doesn't cost anymore to install new struts during the spring install so I went ahead and bought Tokico HP Blues off of eBay for $273 shipped.

Oh, by the way, your rims are looking HOT!

It is rare to see a 19"x8.5" wheel fit on the CL-S. Anything more than the H&R OE drop will make him rub. With a Comptech drop he'd be rubbing up front everytime he went around corners. Most likely the rear too. 8.5" is a FAT wheel for our cars. They look so hot though...

Can you take a pic just from the side, not an angle so I can see how high your car looks with 19's and stock springs? Thanks.

Perfect. Thanks man. You should be good with a 1" drop. Get the H&R springs we are talking about. I think they are around $160

Yeah, H&R OE spring would work best.

Most say 1 inch drop all around. Maybe a slight bit more. But it gives the lest drop of all the springs..

Just make sure you get the OE Springs (some times called OE Sport Springs) and not just the Sport springs..

If I have 225/40/18 and I get the HR OE Sport, will it be dropped enough? In other words, will my car look like a 4X4?

Thanks

Thanks

With 225/40 you would need a lower drop. I'd say go for the H&R Sport springs or the Comptech Drop. They are the most popular among the people on the board.

I think it will look good, definitely better. I'm afraid if you go more than an inch you will rub and I wouldn't want to see you wear down those 19" tires by rubbing against the fender. Rubbing also makes a very annoying, sorta ghetto sound. If you can afford to buy coil-overs you could be able to adjust your car to the perfect height by adjusting the amount you want to drop it. They more costly than a regular spring/strut setup.

bought my H&R OE springs from tire rack and I think the prices are somewhat better than whats listed here. Had them in two days from the Newark, DE location I like the look, and no real change in ride quality. Took a while to find someone who would install them at a reasonable price, so you may want to check that out first. Good luck, you wont be disappointed

In my humble opinion to answer some of your questions, just things to think about.

1. Comptech drop has a bit of a "rake" look but I see you have subs so the weight in the trunk might compensate.
2. H&R have a more equal drop all around, but again weight in trunk will off set that. Especially if you plan on having passengers.
3. If you go with struts and springs, keep in mind Koni Yellows or Neuspeed Koni Yellows. These struts have some height adjustability. That way if you go with 1" drop and still get 4x4 look, you have a little room to play with. JUST REMEMBER to lower same amt at all 4 corners on struts.
4. I've also heard that anything more than 1-1.5" drop and you'll need camber adj.

Alright. Hope things work out, drop some pics when you decide and sweet rims man.

1. okay
2. okay
2. The Koni yellows will only allow you to adjust .5" at the most. And at twice the price of a non-adjustable shock I couldn't justify the cost. Especially since he really isn't concerned with performance considering he has those huge rims and is driving a CL-P not a CL-S.
4. All cars with lowering springs installed, no matter what the drop should have a camber adjustment. The question is, can the camber be adjusted back into spec without the need for a "camber kit". The need for a camber kit will vary from car to car, NOT springs to springs. This is a common misconception. About half of the people with H&R Sport springs needed a camber kit, the other half didn't. Some people with the Comptech drop needed a kit.

With the overall size of your wheels (they are huge, but I love 'em) you are best going with the H&R OE drop. It is the least expensive of your options and will give you what you want. A set of non-adjustable struts should not run you more than $300 if you opt to have new struts installed at the time of the spring install. If your pockets are deeper you could get coil-overs and adjust your drop to the perfect height according to your tastes and wheel/tire package. Good luck. Nice looking car.

Do you mean JUST the price of installation or the total package, springs, struts, installation = $300

I paid $200 for installation of my springs and struts. Plus alignment.

300 just to install. i am new in this area and there arnt many shops around. that price was quoted buy the wheel shop that sold me the rims. there are a set 0f TEIN SS coilovers on the black market, would that be sufficient? when they are installed are they at stock height and then you can go lower? or does it auto. lower and then you can continue to adjust lower if you like???

$300 is a fair price for an install. Ask if that includes an alignment. With coilovers you can adjust the ride height manually until you get it to just where you want it.

yes i understand that, what i need to know is if you install coilovers does it automaticly lower your car and then you can lower it more or does it stay at stock height and then you can lower it? because i am looking at this TEIN catalog and it says:-2.1 f, -1.7 r,........so is that automatic and then go lower or is that the lowest? only asking because groundcontrol says 0,-2.....

I believe you can set it at stock height. Although I'm not 100% sure.
