spacers

I am lowered on H&R sport. There is a set of 17x7.5 wheels I am looking at that are +42 offset. I know that it will be a problem so I thought.... what if I get 5mm or even 10mm spacers. That would basically bring up the offset back to spec.

Anyone use spacers? Can anybody tell me if it's a good idea to use spacers?

I've used 3mm and 5mm spacers with no problems, just check your lug nuts often if you don't use longer studs. If you use the 10mm's you will have to change the studs. But you should get a wheel with a higher offset.

Spacers will essentially LOWER your offset. If you have a +42 now and use a 10 mm spacer, you will end up with a +32. Using a spacer will make the wheel stick out more and will increase the likelyhood that it will rub.

Get different wheels.

Interesting, guess you learn something new every day. But I should be able to get away with either 17 or 18 wheel up to 8 width and with +45 as minimum offset, correct?

You should. I would go with the 18's.
