Rotora ?
Rotora ?
Hi
About two weeks ago I brought my car to the shop to get a few things done including replacing front rotors/pads (hawk hps). I just got my rear rotors and pads in the mail today and noticed that the diagram that came with it shows the vents on the slotted rotor pointing towards the front.. however the shop installed the front rotors facing the back of the car
anywho, ive been driving for two weeks now and wondering if they can be swaped (R for L, visa versa)..
also the mechanic told me not to change my brake fluid because it will ruin my abs system because air will get in while changing.. but thought thats why you bleed them... any logic behind this?
Thanx

I've been wondering the same thing. I helped to install my rotors on my car and we put them on the opposite sides, but it is too late to switch them. I think this could be part of the reason my rotors warped so easily after the change.
Bleeding the lines is used to get the air out, not sure that I would trust someone who says it would ruin the ABS system if you're changing the fluid. I believe the dealer does a flush of the fluid at some point, maybe 105k server.

This is a driver side rotor, mine are the opposite of this.

ABS is a seprate system & only needs to be bled if air gets into the master cylinder(like when you change it) normal bleeding works fine, & needs to be done if you are flushing fluid, or disconnect the brake lines.

I would switch them asap. If they're installed incorrectly they might not cool right and warp quickly, etc. I would imagine if you swapped them, and made sure to slightly scuff (block sand or steel wool) the surfaces you'd be okay. Unless they are e-coated.
Either way I would switch them irregardless.
Also, there is an awesome FAQ for 1-person brake bleeding on the board. I've used this method a few times and it works much better than other methods I've tried; including the vacuum pump.
Good luck.

I brought my car to the same mechanic cause he didnt charge to much to switch them, and he put in rear rotors and pads as well but this time the 'right' way. MAN!! what a difference! probably because i got my rear setup changed but it definitely has a better bite. im very pleased wtih the hawk hps pads and rotora rotors. I would highly recommend it! as for the brake fluid change.. i will get it done probably next weekend some place else.
