Rim Question
OK, so I have done searches and pretty much seen everyone say that 20's will not fit our cars.... I'm just wondering why I see cars smaller than ours with 20's on em all the time... (Altima, G35, 350Z....etc) do they just have deeper wheel wells? I don't know a lot about fitting rims, so I'm just tryin to get as much info as I can before I buy some...
Thanks!
Thanks!
They make 20's that will fit CL's but IMHO 20's are too big for the car. A few members have pulled it off and it looks ok but after having 19's, thats big enough as they are already huge.
I think the fitment problem is that there are so many 20's available out there but they are generally too wide and the offset is too low, someone correct me if I'm wrong. As most of us already know, the high offset on the CL makes finding wheels we like difficult as it is.

It has nothing to do with the wheel well size. The biggest issue with fitting 20s is getting a tire that will fit and doesn't look like a rubberband.
When plus sizing rims, you typically don't want to go higher than 2 sizes higher. So in the case of the 2nd gen TL and CL, 17s can go to 19s. 3rd gen TL can go to 20s.

Dont go with 20's on a CL it is just too big and defies the point of having a fast coupe. It more less will causes you more problems with bigger wheels on a car like a CL. Like JBlue said get a SUV if u want to do that! DOnt get me wrong it sure probably will look hot but it just doesnt match up.

20's will fit.
It's just hard pressed for you to find 20 inch wheels that will be the correct width and offset.
It's cause our wheels are relatively skinny (stock = 7", biggest w/o problems I've seen w/ CL's and TL's is 8" I believe).

The cars you mention have low offsets less then 40, & have fenders the bulge out making more room. The CLS has straight fenders & a high +55 offset.
It's just the way Acura made the car.

You want the highest offset you can get. Stock is 55. However it depends on rim width too, & tire size you want. In a perfect world....
18 = 18x8 +55 235-40-18
19 = 19x8 +55 235-35-19
20 = 19X8 +55 235-30-20
But that's dreaming, not many sets of 19's & 20's come in a offsets higher then a 45.

if you are looking for a PERFECT set like you say, eliminate 20's from your options. I know a guy who comes into my work with an smr 01 cl-s 20 x 8 and it looks like a dunebuggy. The only way wheels look good is if they tuck, and 20's are hard to find that tuck on a cl my
