Ordering Tires - Nitto NT555 ??'s (Help!)
I'm finally dumping the slippery Michelin's and I think I have decided on the Nitto NT 555's in 235/45/17. These will be going on the Stock rims.
Will I have a problem with that size??? Some have suggested that I go with 235/40/17, but I'm afraid that's too low profile and will hurt the ride quality?? Which size would be better??
Will my Speedo be off with either of these Two choices??
I can get the tires for $122 (including tax and shipping) each + $62 for mounting & balance, is that a good pirce??
Is there a better tire for that money out there??
How much more $$$ are Toyo Proxyes?? Are they worth it??
**Can't search or I would**
Sorry for some many questions......
THANKS!!!

The 235/40-17 generally requires a wider rim (8") than the 235/45-17 (7.5"). I did NOT see a 235/40-17 555 (or 555R) listed on the Nitto site.
There are some people who have done it: the 235/40-17 on stock 7” wide rims (so, who knows how far you can go when it comes to putting a tire on a too narrow rim).

i wouldnt concider 235/40 personally, but if you want a good compromise, than consider 225/45 at 25.1 roll diameter they're not that far off from the 25.4 235/45 or the 25.5 215/50's

Are you certain you wanna go with Nittos?
I heard that they were decent tires, but for a bit more you could get the Bridgestone S03's, or the Toyos?!

I put the 235-45-17 Toyos on my car a few weeks ago. There great! The speedo should not be affected, since the difference is less then 1% from the stock size. I used one of those radar things on the side of the road that display your speed, & it was dead on. I also had a friend pace me on the HW at 65,70,75,& 80 with no difference.

You should add that link to the FAQ or somewhere BTW, because it contains a LOT of info people ask questions about.

You can try this, someone over on the NSX forum has OK luck with them.

You can get them for around $150-$160 each...

How are the Nitto 555's with wet traction? I'm thinking about getting these but am concerned because Houston streets are often slick and I'm usually in a hurry. What do you guys think are good tires with good wet/dry traction and good price?
Thanks,
Peter.
Thanks,

I got a killer deal on nitto 555's for my old GTS, i paid $606 for 4 17"'s 40series mounted and certificates, incase i ever get a flat they either fix it or repair it.............from Discount Tire. They had good grip, 10 times better than my Parada's, especially in the rain.
