New wheels question, Help with sizing

So I was going through the Post yo pic (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...highlight=post) thread and all your rims made me jeleous (I especially likes ANDY03CL-S's wheels). Now I've decided to use my super scratched OEM's as winter/snow tires and get some new summer wheels.

I've been to a couple of sites that show me what wheels will fit my car. I found some that are 18x7 with a 42 offset. After searching the other threads I don't think I'll have any problems with these but I want wider tires. The same site shows some 18x8 but they have a 35 offset. I don't think these will fit though, why is there so much offset difference if they are both 18s? What tires will fit?

My car isn't lowered (although I may lower it later), so will they rub?

Also I'm having problems with a heavy rattle when I went over bumps, Acura said engine mounts. I had them replaced and still had the noise, then they said struts. Another mechanic replaced the struts, and sway bar links. Still have the noise, took it back to Acura and they still say struts. Any Ideas

18X7.5 min of +42
18X8 min of +45
18X7 min of +40 But why would you want skinny ass 18's?
235-40-18 for correct speedo reading
225-40-18 for slightly off speedo, but less chance of rubbing with the min. offsets posted.

I would not go below a +42. Look at different wheels.

Could I put 18x7 with 42 offset in the front and 18x8 with 35 offset in the back?

FWD cars do not use a static rim setup.(smaller in front, bigger in rear) It would serve no purpose.
And a 35 offset doesn't fit this car.

Thanks for the input!!

I think I'm going with faulken torque 5's 18x7, I know they are skinnier than some others but I like the style (not enough to go 19's and install a camber kit) and I found them priced at $130. I'm getting reimbursed $350 from Honda for a srs light (opds unit) repair (that I found out about from another forum) that I did back in january, and am putting it towards the rims

Just make sure that the offset will allow for the wheel to fit. Width is not the only factor that affects fitment.

They have a +42 offset which should be fine. I still don't understand why the same wheels with the same diamater (18's) have different offset's when the width is the only thing that changes, e.g., theses wheels come in 18x7 with a 42 offset and 18x8 with a 35 offset. I probably just don't understand what it measures but I thought is how far forward (or back) the wheel sits in the wheel well but that really doesn't make any sense

You still may rub if you lower it. Keep it in mind.

I am also going to purchase the falken torque 5's with falken tires. If I go 18x7 with the offset of +42 and tires at 235-40-18 i shouldn't have any problems at all with rubbing?

from what fuzzy02cls said you should be fine. Plus raul at edgeracing.com said that they fit the 01 cl-s. FYI that website has the cheapest prices I have seen so far!

Oh and one more thing, if you go with the 18x7's (to avoid rubbing), you will need to get 225/40/18 instead of 235/40/18

I just put them on and the guy at big-o-tires said they are going to rub, right now I don't believe it because the stock springs give me 4x4 clearance, but as soon as I drop it down a little I'm afraid it might

Um...are you having any rubbing? Have you lowered it yet?

suggestions? I'm about to pull the trigger (tomorrow the latest based on what you guys tell me..hehe)

i have 18x8 with +45 offset and 225/40/18 tires. they have very minimal rub with a full car, but my drop in the back is not very dramatic.

I had 19x8 with a +45 offset and 235 series tires and never rubbed when I was lowered. You sure you don't have any other issues? You got your alignment checked?

i only rub when i am pulling off of a really steep incline at an angle. basically with one rear tire off the ground and one shock compressed almost all the way.

The guy at Big-O was SOOOOOOOO sure it was going to rub, even after I told him i had talked to other people (ANDYCLS) with the same wheels on the same car with no problems he told me "I'm not warning you that it might, I'm telling you that it will rub"

It was BS, I just lowered it with h&r 51858's which I thought would drop about 1.5-1.75 but dropped a little over 2 from what I measure. Even with the drop I dont rub, I recently had my car fully loaded (trunk filled with stuff and three people in the back) and still didn't rub even over dips!!!!

The wheels are falken torque 5 18x7s with a 42 offset (no camber kit needed) and tires are falken 452's 225/40/18 but now even though I just got them on a month ago I'm probably going to put the OEM's back on soon for the winter

thanks man. i just wanted to hear the specs to see if it would be the same as the setup i want to get. it's all the same with exception that the wheels i'm getting are 18x7.5 and +43 offest. though i've already been told that there should not be any rubbing, i wanted to see what you had to say.

Welp...guess not!!!!

So I got a sample Catalunya and Kyalami wheel from TSW...and.....

Both wouldn't work...the calipers wouldn't let the wheel turn...too deep.

So...on order and I know these work is a set of 5Zigen SC3000 Hyperblack wheels.

Not an 8" width...but oh well...I'll live....

More to update as soon as I get them.
